So what was the general opinion of the Modwright vs. AVA gear?

I only have initial impressions of the ModWright gear, and I believe we still ran it through the AVA DAC.  For me, I preferred the AVA high end, it was more effortless and easy on the ears.  The ModWright was a bit fatiguing for me.  On the low-end, I would have liked to test more, but it seemed like the ModWright had more authority and control.  Not to say either sounded bad, lol....  but I preferred the AVA setup.

Jim Salk hooked his SC12 babies up to the ModWright amp and pre just so he could listen to music he was familiar with.  As was stated, he believed the AVA gear had more "air" in the higher frequencies.  I can't tell you what that means.  It all sounded sweet to me.

To be honest, I'd be willing to bet you could hook those SC12's up to an old Kraco car stereo amp and they'd still sound like heaven.

I've started a "wrap up" thread.  In the first post there is a link to a Photobucket account where all of the attendees and sponsors have been uploading their pictures.
