Could you explain or refute their comment that a solid lump of insulation in the high pressure, low flow zone in the corner is not going to be as effective?
So you are basically "calling shenanigans"?

I'm a believer now. I'm the OP just in case its not apparent. Rather than trying the pipe insulation DIY approach which I wouldn't be able to return to the vendor, I grabbed two bags of R20 insulation and put them in the corners behind the speakers. At first I wasn't that impressed. But I had inadvertently and stoopidly changed my speaker placement before that. Then I discovered it after I took the bags back. The speaker placement issue was actually a huge one. Once corrected, the room is energized and sounds fantastic, as it should have. When it was wrong, it sucked and it made hearing what two bags of insulation could do very difficult. So once I realized this I went and got two bags again. The affect is fantastic actually. Much imrpoved transparency. Really cleared up some smearing in the sound (ringing, whatever the technical term is). Also made the sound more natural and easy to listen too. Less fatiguing. I can do louder and it is easier on the ear, and I can listen at lower SPLs now and hear more, so I don't even want to turn it up. I was really expecting to hear improved bass response and thats it. I figured that was bass trapping would do. I thought improved transparency, imaging etc would be solved with side wall or ceiling reflection diffusion. I wasn't expecting bass trapping to do this to be honest. Its made me a believer. I am hoping a couple of real bass trapping products that are better than a couple of bags of R20 insulation, at more of a cost yes, will sound X percent better than what I am hearing with two bags costing $60. I know DIY is cheaper etc, but I don't want DIY in my room because you know who won't like it.
Oh, I still plan on my experiment. The pipe insulation is on the way. -Although its going to be a month or more for me to really get to it-Tony
www.amerisafe.netIt is a local place, to me, in Aurora IL.
Well, they didn't stock the 16 or 20", but they ordered it. Did you ask the suppliers if they could order it for you?
I'm assuming the bags are seriously flawed bass traps, or maybe not seriously but partially.
