I once got speakers from UPS that had been packed just as poorly.  They were left on my steps with the to 1/4 of the box nearly gone.  You could see the naked speakers and peanuts were poring out of the huge hole in the box. :duh:  It was a shockingly back packing job from a guy with superb feedback, and a horrible job by UPS.  Yet, for all of that the speakers didn't have a scratch on them! :o  Damned odd deal.

Anyway, good luck with your claim.

Isn't the seller responsible for chasing down any claim due to shipping damage? Shouldn't the seller refund your money immediately and chase down the claim for themselves? I thought this was how it was supposed to work.

Yes, but that does not mean the seller will do that.

Correct.  If we were smart we would probably mention that when doing a deal, but I know I don't.  I've had sellers ask me how they should ship.  My reply is "you are responsible for getting it to me; you choose".

On two separate deals I have had to inform the seller that it was he who purchased the insurance and he was the one who had to file a claim. No claim was ever filed but in one case the seller made good for the damage. I ate the other loss. :x

Ummm...blaming UPS for this is like blaming the rain for a flood.
Imagine someone leaving a package for you in a box made out of rice paper parchment. One touch and your fingers go right through it.

Blame the packer.

I agree with you guys to a point but at the same time UPS really did beat the shit out of these things.

When I got on the UPS the boxed clearly marked "Fragile this end up" were both lying down sideways.

I wouldn't exactly call UPS innocent in this case.

Wasn't it packaged by a UPS shipping center?  If so, UPS is definitely to blame.  Anyway, all is well because they sent the insurance money.  Thank God!

Wow. I can see them dropping it but it looks like they took the speakers and rolled it down a long embankment. Maybe one of the delivery trucks was in a bad accident.

Given the fact that they packed and damaged your property, I would push for an expedited resolution.  You should be listening to music now, not waiting for a check.

They should send over a trio of musicians or at least a solo guitarist until the speakers are in your room!
