KShep,

Thanks, yes the sound difference is amazing.  I can't believe I lived with it for so many years without doing anything to it.  The difference is like having an entire new and much improved system.

sl,

Great project.  The photo of the rough insulation hanging from the wall had me scratching my head, but it is a great way to get an idea of what the room will sound like once completed.  I love your dedication.  I would imagine the room actually sounds better with the end result.  It sure looks great.  Kudos.

EVERYBODY should try it!

It's all well and good to read about the benefits of room treatment...but most audiophiles go back to the stereophile model-buy a new component...step by step you will buy your way to audiophile nirvana. (hmm, just who benefits from rubbish like that?? ah yes, advertisors)

Do what the OP did, will hardly cost you a cent, you will know one way or the other, and if you go ahead (as you will) then you can worry about looks.

And the insulation you take down can be put to use elsewhere, like your ceiling to save power bills, so it's a win-win situation!!

Glad to see someone else had the same sense as me to throw raw batts on the wall!!
