Building a speaker from the ground up.  FUN.  The essence of that is really what a DIY-er is probably into most. But thinking of the creation side of that makes me glad there are other people smarter than me making these designs.  I would like to be a fly on the wall during Danny's "creation" phases of new speaker designs.

I gotta suspect some models may be more work than others, but it has got to be a time consuming endeavor.  So Danny, hat's off to you.  :thumb: Looking forward to new models, and owning something

Try three 8" servo subs with a Neo 10 and Neo 3 and all open baffle. It's happening.

That is a design I am eager to hear!!!

I'd like to try that with an active cross-over.... lows to the servo amp, mids to my M-901 - Neo 10s, and hi's to my THX Nad amp and Neo 3s.

Trismos, why wouldn't you use your Virtue amp on the Neo 3s?

Well, now that you throw that out there and make me go back to the specs, I would likely change that around!  The Neo 10 is 150-6000khz, the 3 is 2000-28000khz(!). Where would you place the crossover ranges on an active set-up? (Or a passive one).

Can the 8" drivers work in a sealed or ported box or are they strictly OB? Just asking for the few of us that don't have the ability to set the speakers 3' or so from the walls and stay married.  :)

I'm not Danny, but his website outlines rough dimensions for putting the woofers in a box.  Also, Danny has said that Brian at Rythmik has had some box-specific versions of the drivers made along with Danny's order.  I'm guessing info is scarce on them because of the current situation waiting on amplifiers?

Just wondering if there's been any movement on the venuette model with the 8 inch servo subs; very interested in learning more.

I just went to the GR-Research website and I could put the A370PEQ servo amp in my shopping cart.  Looks like they might be in stock.

Enough amps were flown in to fill back orders. More will be in within another week or so.

Also new models are in the works using these servo subs. Really good stuff too... X-Otica for one is going to be incredible.

The 8" servo subs can be used with the V-2 upper section but the price is quite a bit higher.

So I bought this pair of speakers from Danny and they are supposed to ship early this week.  They will be replacing a pair of OB-5s.  In preparation for there arrival I have been listening to my "test" releases:  EmmyLou Harris - Wrecking Ball, Blue Rider Trio - Harp, steel and guts (Mapleshade records), Santana - Abraxas (Columbia Legacy SBM), Vantage Point - Resolution (AIX records DVD Audio) and Goldberg Variations - Acoustica (AIX records DVD Audio).  I'm really looking forward to getting these set up and listening to them.

They look nice in your space. How do they sound?

Very nice, of course they have better bass than the OB-5s, but they are also much more spacious.  The sound stage is much better and several people who were familiar with my old set up have said the same thing.
