Oh yes, just a couple more questions. If I am looking at the HDP as a pre-amp to the AMP-30, I could imagine volume control would be a little tricky. Or have you guys already thought of a solution?

The volume control on the Icon Amp can be set at the maximum (0 attenuation) for use with HDP or other preamp or volume-controlled source (such as a LCD TV).

Hi,
There should be enough HDP to go to HK.  We are trying to release this ASAP.

Hi Casey,

Who are your distributors in Hong Kong & Singapore?
Would the turn around time be faster if I had it ordered directly from you guys? Do you have a 220-240V version in your online store?

Hi Astroboy,

Interested in a bulk buy to save on shipping to Hong Kong?

Aww, crap! You mean we're gonna have to wait another whole month? That's just cruel...

All kidding aside, thanks for letting us know. From what's been posted so far here and on your website, I'm really looking forward to this product. Sounds like exactly what I've been looking for.

uDAC photos:

On sales around 11/24.  This little thing sounded better than a $600 Music Hall DAC.
Your laptop and this uDAC would sound better than many $1000 CD player.

hi,

i have tried the icon with my speakers and they worked great, except the volume was way too low via the usb-dac (volume was sufficient with mp3-player and computer-out).

should i expect the Amp-30 & uDac to work well ?

and about the HPD, does it have a line-out (for sub) ?
can it be used as usb-dac with other integrated amps ?

thanks

The Icon USB DAC has a maximum output of 0.5V, while the uDAC is designed to have an output of 2.0V.   Why?  Icon is an integrated amp, and at peak 0.5V USB output, the power from the Icon reached the maximum.  That's why.

However, uDAC is just a line level output, and it's designed to behave like a CD or DVD Player to have a 2V output.

uDAC + Icon Amp will have more volume and dynamic than a Icon (using build in USB).

Here's a comparison guide for Icon, Icon Mobile, Icon HDP, uDAC, Icon Amp

http://www.nuforce.com/hp/support/icon-compare.html

Icon HDP has not extra line-out (no space!) but you can use a Y connector for the RCA out. I believe we are offering a cable with RCA to RCA + 3.5mm.

Icon HDP can be used as a high-end DAC with other integrated amp or even with IA-7V3 or other high-end mono amps.

which will play louder, HDP+amp/30 or uDAC+amp/30 ?
and will the volume difference be significant ?

Hi,
For pure SPL, both would be identical.  HDP would be of much better performance and has flexibility to accept external inputs.

shows the Icon Amp has a <97kHz/24bit USB DAC?

there is also alot of unpopulated  stuff on the PCB

that kinda looks like the RCAs jump into the middle of.
but it does look more like an analog headphone section rather than a DAC...

what's all the extra silk screening?

Might all the unpopulated stuff be for the DAC on the other model?

That was an error in the comparison guide. Icon Amp has no DAC. I just fixed it.

Does the HDP have a selectable input for switiching between analog 3.5mm, USB & Optical/Coax ? I am hoping to connect the HDP USB input to my mac, 3.5mm input for my PMP and Optical to my PS3 at the same time.

It would be a real pain, if I have to plug/unplug the inputs constantly.

I was just about to put down my order for the Icon Amp and I realised there's no option for a 220-240V & 3 pin UK plug. And there are only 2 colours available currently, Black & Silver.

When will the Blue one be available? How do I select 220-240V version & 3 pin UK plug on your online store?
