Mariusz - Thx for the link to the 6moons article. I was in great need for some new 845's so I just ordered a quad from the company last night (taking a bit of a fly'er...), so we'll see how they sound!

Hello to you all, just found my way to this forum while searching "miniwatt".
I'm a newbie here, and hope to learn alot, plus help out with whatever I can contribute.
Reason for searching on "miniwatt"....;
My [new] miniwatt produces a noticable "buzz" on my Klipsch La Scala's, and it gets louder when the amp heats up a bit.
A shame really, while my expectations were high after reading some reviews.
I also bought the ALO tube upgrade, but those tubes have not been out of the box because of the problem mentioned above.
Has anyone got any experience with this problem? The La Scala's have a 105Db efficiency, but from what I understand there are much more horn-users here who use the miniwatt?..
Any input is appreciated, thanks.

I use Avantgarde Duo Omega 107dB efficiency and MiniWatt is dead silent - complete blackness, no noise at all, even with my ear glued to the horns.

Already I noticed that some members have horns as well in combination with the miniwatt.
I use a professional AC cord, checked without the rca's connected etc.... even took the amp to my brother in law, who has the same speakers; same effect.
Any suggestions about the next step ?
I bought the amp [new] from a person here in The Netherlands, who ordered a whole bunch of them directly in China and sold them on "marktplaats" [sort of Dutch ebay]

Can I check any internals who are likely to cause this problem? [I'm familiar with Ohm's law and a DMM]

If you have an extra set of valves, try to use them and see if problem continues.
It could not harm ...

"I have been getting swamped with email regarding the MiniWatt Amp.

The MiniWatt will not be made anymore. There will be another version that is improved. Here are the specifications.

12AX7 + 2 x EL84
Power output: 3.5W per channel
Input: RCA Jack (a pair)
Output: 4/6/8 ohms (Japan Z11-EI48*24 Output Transformers)
AC Voltage: 100-240Vac, Standard IEC Jack with Fuse protection
Dimensions: 13.5cm (w) x 13.5cm (d) x 12cm (h)
The retail price: US$378

ETA is late February, I will be the first to receive them so look forward to bringing them to market as soon as possible.

This is pretty much all I know at this point, I will post more when I hear.

That is what I read in the review - given that direct sells will be available.
I am not sure tho if the projected price includes shipping? If not, total might be very close to $378 quote from ALO.

The MW is still available from Chinese eBay merchants. It is named the APPJ 6P1. Actually it was sold under that name before it was rebadged as the MiniWatt.

I would bet that the APPJ is really under the MiniWatt glued logo.
MiniWatt even didn't correct the mispelling "Amplifer" of the APPJ originals.

As of yesterday, my review of the EL84 amp has been canceled. Synergy Hifi apparently lost the distribution contract on it to MiniWatt and Derek of MiniWatt claims that they have made modifications to the amp I was shipped. I thus ended up with an abandoned amp nobody will be able to buy anymore in exactly this form - if Derek's changes are significant. Belatedly I'd say, the MiniWatt website also finally acknowledges the tie-in with APPJ.

There won't be a review of the MiniWatt-badged N3 amplifier on 6moons. Given the above, I decided to stay clear for a bit. It's also peculiar that APPJ would play two parties against the middle. Perhaps that's simply good business - to go with the highest bidder? Perhaps. But from the distance, there's simply no way no be sure what's really going on. Which doesn't reflect on the product's quality. I simply don't want to be taken for a ride...

Nice that Srajan joins on AC. I think, from reading the various posts on this, as on 6Moons, this would be the latest version, minus the tube upgrade. Pity this has gone a bit wonky. Hopefully someone will give this a try and report.
