Just wondering.....will there be a TT present in the AVA/Salk room at RMAF ?
Thanks.... :thumb:

Chris,
I'll be happy to drive the Audi TT around the Mariott.  Oh, did you mean turntable?

Well Paul....since Wayner is going this year....and he enjoys vinyl....maybe a turn table will be in the room this year. 8)

He could spin some Yes or Van Halen ...COOL !!!

Yess for Yes!  :thumb:  If Wayner doesn't want to, I could bring my Yes lps.  I've got: The Yes Album, Fragile, Yesterdays, and Close To The Edge.  It will be a Yes Feast.

Well, I haven't talked to Frank about a table at RMAF. We'll talk about it.

Wayne which table and cart would you bring? I will definitely be bringing some vinyl, as well as scoping out the possibilities from the venders.

Frank doesn't want to bring vinyl this time. I don't want to bring any of my tables or LPs, I have had an experience before doing something like this and had many albums stolen. However, I am planning on putting a few "highly audiophile" LPs on a CD. I have had great success with this and will bring some of my LPs that were 45rpm (12") from some very interesting artists like Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, Thompson Twins and others. I will also bring some Andreas Vollenweider, Thomas Dolby and some Bryan Ferry. These will be great sounding CDs.

Also can't wait to meet all of you goof-balls!

It's less than 3 weeks away! :green: I help Mike of Analysis Audio down in the Marriot lobby's Bluebell room. He just told that there will be no turntable for them either. Looks like my luggage will be much lighter on the way out this year. I should pack an empty LP carrying box in my suitcase for the LP's I pick up while there though. aa

I usually pack more than a dozen LPs and another 10-12 cds which Mike uses along with his own during the show. Never had any problems the past 2 years.

I'm also going to transfer a couple LPs to CD so I can hear some true dynamics and detail while enjoying some stuff I can dream about.

I've put 2 LPs to CD so far:

Genesis - Selling England by the Pound and
David Gilmour - ON An Island.

I also plan on 4 more LPs and 6 more CDs. It's hard to find the middle ground between what I want and what is appropriate for the masses.

 :drool:S6, that's what I want.  firmer seats, firmer suspension  I've been using an A6 2.7T Bi-Turbo w/ 6 speed stick, I can't drive an automatic.  No control.  I had to swap the stock springs to some factory "S"Eiebach version  springs to stiffen it up, and lower it, big improvement, stock A6 is way too soft.  When will you go all out to RS6?  If it ain't GERMAN, it ain't a car.  Everyone else copies the excellence.  DUP approved.

OK Chris, it's a go for the Yes Album! I also decided to go with my new MOFI Alan Parsons "Tales of Mystery and Imagination", Edgar Allen Poe. It is a jaw dropper!

Nothing from Mapleshade?  Their talent isn't the best, but it's decent.  And like it or not, the guy can engineer a great quality recording...  (I use it as my reference, as most mass-media recordings stink in comparison, and can't reveal the quality of the system...)

I know what I'm doing between now and Oct 1 (besides the day job)--making some CDs from some of my favorite vinyl selections using an Alesis Masterlink ML 9600 hard disk recorder.

Look forward to meeting and seeing all of you at RMAF :thumb:  :)

I am bringing some stuff from my studio. That will be interesting. We had a small group that was recording on hard drive as early as 1995. Out of the 120 tunes we recorded, a few are pretty good. We'll see what happens.

I'm not a fan of Mapleshade at all, not cause of their music, but some well....I'll just leave it at that.

Hi Wayner,

Thanks for making all the nice recordings.  It will be great to use them at the RMAF.

We are on the second floor this year, same as last year guys.  I have been told the show is a sell out for exhibitor space.  Come on out and enjoy the zoo all my friends.

Wayner,
Perhaps I missed it, but how are you transferring LP's to CD's? Just curious what brand of A/D converter and what setup you use.
Thanks

Art,

I have an old Philips CDR-765 that I burn to, then import it into my computer using a CD-RW for music. I then do a little clean up (beginning and end) with my Calkwalk ProAudio 9 and then re-burn onto a regular CD-R. I do need to get a new system going here, tho.
