Actually I do have Gary building me mon-block versions. They are then rated at 30 watts each.
So with a couple of Optima RedTop batteries these may end up weighing the same as the blue monsters

Congras, a compact box for a battery powered EL84.

Just wondering how many 12V batteries is Gary using for 15watt output?

Any chance of having a peek inside of the box?

Gary, I recall an earlier thread where someone said you rebuilt an Eico amp to stunning effect, and were thinking of marketing it as a continuing Dodd product. Is this the amp that rose from those Eico ashes?
Love this thing!
That would be me.  Gary took a pair of Eico mono integrateds (Model HF-12) with the instructions "Do what you want with them" and rebuilt them with the main circuitry later used in the battery amps.  They are incredibly musical with imaging that you wouldn't believe considering their humble origins-stuff I hadn't heard with my modded Moscode and the Dodd battery pre. Basically, these little amps breathed new life into my AV-3's.   However, Gary did this for me basically just for kicks. I seriously doubt that he has any plans for buying up old Eicos and rebuilding them.  Besides, if it plugs into the wall, Gary is busy trying to put it on batteries.

I have answers to several questions. They cannot be bridged mono, just buy some monoblocks soon available. There will be a pair of them at the RMAF. They are 30 watts cont., 60+ watts for a few seconds if needed! Yes, I am using the same basic circuit I used in Scotts Eico's. Actually it would take a lot of red tops to weigh in at 275 each amp, but boy it sure would play a long time!
When I first turned on the first amp , I used only 1 battery like the ones in the battery preamp and it played for 50 minutes before it faded away. 1 battery 1000 batteries it is always 15 watts per channel cont.
NO pics of the inside will be shown ever. Believe me i have it protected just like the battery preamp, no one needs to know, just enjoy it and wonder. :thumb:
