Brian Cheney Signature Edition RM v60

Just when you thought the RM v60 couldn't get any better Big B, takes another GIANT STEP to the Brian Cheney Signature Edition RM v60.

While one might think it difficult to "improve" on the RM v60, B, has found room to make it a BIGGER and better system that competes with systems that generally cost in the $100K  plus region.

The Primary Differences are thus:

THE RM v60 STACK:

The Brian Cheney Signature Edition has TWO stacked midbass modules instead of One.  This provides a mid and upper bass response that is equal to most anything on the market.  Now instead of 3 of the custom made 6.5" Megawoofers with 40oz magnets each you have 6 per side. 12 total in a Stereo System.

This STACK also raises the whole speaker by approximately 9" and provides a whole new visual impressiveness and stature to both the appearance and the sound.

SUPERTOWER Bass Towers :

The second and MAJOR change is that this speaker system comes with SUPERTOWER Bass Towers that are six and a half feet high to match the height of the new "Stack" of the RM v60's.  Driver Complement will still be 4 of the 12" UltraMegaWoofers and a pair of 15" Passives per side.

The Cost?

The BCSE RM v60 STACK will retail for $12,900 a pair and the SUPERTOWER Bass Towers will be $7500 each.

For current RM v60 owners, the additional bass modules will be $2000 each, but we will offer an intro price of $1595 for those who want to "Stack'em" now.  The Extra Modules will only be available in Satin and Gloss Black (add $200 for Gloss Black)

I think this will likely be the system for CES/THE SHOW this year and maybe in a TRINAURAL set up (but that is not in stone)

No pics yet, but we have one going into the field shortly and another potential order "on deck".

I would also "speculate" that a few of our RM v60 clients will likely see the value in the "bass module stack" upgrade. aa

Finally a VMPS speaker that you will not be able to see the top of.

John, how will the OXO of current V-60's need to be changed to accomodate this addition?

The tweeter height will also be elevated quite a bit.  I wonder how that will work out?  The whole project looks to be impressive.  All I have to say is that I am glad the add on modules are only available in black, since my V60s are rosewood :).

I beleive  "MASTAH B" is more qualified to answer that than myself.  Knowing him, he will certainly consider making adjustments in the OXO to maximize the potential.

Ah, but the Satin or Gloss Black will work on the bottom of any finish and look spectacular.

Raising the tweeter 9" should be no problem.  Many found that raising the RM30 about the same was quite nice.

One small gain is also to the "standing" listener.  Even though I would NEVER evaluate a speaker anywhere but sitting in the sweet spot, you would be surprised how many "need" to have some standing "luv" to make them happy.

There will be an additional coil necessary in the OXO.  I can supply part for DIY or factory will install at no charge.

Hummmmmmm!  Since there is the capacity to do so with the Behringer, is there any advantage in dividing the 20hz to 233hz spectrum of the mid-bass units into two bands and amping them separately?

Great minds think alike.

Brian has an e-mail in his IN BOX with that exact question.

Its kinda like the two different magnitizations of the RM40 woofers and the FR's they cover.

NOT A PROBLEM. Just rent a jackhammer and lower the floor nine inches! (Anything for the sake of our sound rooms)  aa

I had actually done something similar when I thought it was needed :).

I guess a better solution would be to angle the tweeter down some at its mount on the V60 to hit the same sweet spot.

Ah, but the Satin or Gloss Black will work on the bottom of any finish and look spectacular.

And the bases of the standard VLAs, which are satin black, could be extended to be at the same height also.  Now see what you have done!  Here I am thinking crazy thoughts when I am already busy redesigning my room treatments :).

I still think the jackhamer approach has merit. Gives you a sense of power and a means to work off stress and frustration (not that this hobby gives rise to any).  :)

Hummmmmmmm! #2 Will you make matching risers available to raise the height of the VLA's for those of us who are handicraft handicaped? (With all Dave's talents you could always farm out the production to him if you didn't want to bother yourself)

I think this will likely be the system for CES/THE SHOW this year and maybe in a TRINAURAL set up (but that is not in stone)

I would think a Trinaural set-up in a Live vs Recorded demo would be very difficult and present even more challenges, considering the singer(s) would need to be about where the center speaker would be sitting.  I suppose that speaker could be on low casters of some sort tied to a neatly bound umbilical of speaker cables allowing it to be moved in and out easily.

Having previously owned a Trinaural setup with three RM-40's it would seem to me that this would require a second Behringer . Otherwise you could not have SDE on all speakers and have to use the old OXO's on each side. What am I missing or does Brian have something up his sleve (again)?
