Have fun,

I hope you didn't make the same mistake I did and order just one - you'll need two units. They are mono (look at the back), but they don't point that out in the literature.

I think also that the special connectors you will need should be included.

A great sounding box, though - I use two for mastering. It enables manipulation of the sound in ways I would have thought completely impossible - or unnecessary.

I'll buy it for the "Full-Function Ecstasy Generator" alone.    :duh:

Not only no IEC jack, but take a close look at those I/O connectors... They appear proprietary

... and I often find it useful to have independent power and glory switches.

Really, though, the most brilliant touch is the artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that overrides user input when the device determines he ("it's always a he") does not know what he is doing.

What,  no " Hazelnut Romantic "  setting?

You know,  for those romantic,  candle lit Hazelnut Decaf evenings;  when ultimate audio transparency is no where even remotely close to being a priority or a thought.

Like everything, it all comes down to system synergy.

I had somewhat unpredictable, but impressive results with my PI-14, which I'll attribute to the interaction between the Psuedoacoustic Infector and my Machina Dynamica Clever Little Clock.

http://www.machinadynamica.com/machina41.htm

The Power and Glory functions had a large enough impact on the soul of the music that even my wife commented from another room upon hearing the transformation.

I then cranked the Here/There control to the max, but rather than scattering the instruments across the soundstage as expected, the interaction with the Clever Little Clock caused me to be sent here and there through time. Eventually, well in the future, a GTG formed and many Eloi showed up and were impressed by my system, the Morlocks that attended found the system less impressive, but did find the music enhanced the flavor of the Eloi.

Fortunately at some point in time, my wife dragged my listening chair close enough to the equipment rack and the PI-14, that I was able to engage the Back Again button, which returned me to a point in time before my purchase of either the Clever Little Clock or the Psuedoacoustic Infector. Sadly, the PI-14 is now on back order, and my disdain for unintended time travel, has left me somewhat reticent to re-order the Clever Little Clock.

Although the results were indeed impressive, I have no way to verify they actually occurred. This leads me to fear that the results may be very system dependent, YMMV.

I don't want to add a bit of this and a tad of that to my music, so what the hell is this for?????

I would buy this based on specs alone. However, it might take a fortnight to deliver depending on how many furlongs the shipper has to traverse, given that it seems to be 117 lbs.  It might seem wasteful to use 12 kW to run this device, but leaving it on all the time will surely yield superior sonic results.

Probably not for you!

I guess some system somewhere may sound perfect, if only for a spit second, but I've never heard a system that couldn't use bit of this or a tad of that.

As to the 12 kW (that's 16 horsepower) per side, well that could help heat the house in the winter and could function as a barbecue in the summer while you listened to great sounds. Speakers sound great outdoors anyway.

Yes,  do leave on all night.

And for the ultimate in easy, inexpensive tweeks.

Use Moronacina Dynamica's ......Amazing Musical Spiritually Organic Positive Energy Pebbles (gathered and sourced from the magic land of Stonehenge,  in Wiltshire County UK),  in conjunction with a fluffy, Stonehenge Bunny (also gathered and sourced from the surrounding lands of magic Stonehenge,  in Wiltshire County UK).

Place the fluffy Stonehenge Bunny in a completely organic bamboo or rattan cage.   Place cage directly on top of the PI-14,  but exactly in the middle (please measure from all four sides to locate the exact middle).

Then,  use the Moronacina Dynamica's ......Amazing Musical Spiritually Organic Positive Energy Pebbles to incircle the Bunny's cage (a perfect circle around the cage).

Gently grab the Bunny's ears and tie them up (left ear pointing due East,  right ear...pointing west) to ward off all RFI and EMI interference.

You will achieve a glorious,  magical audio presentation.

Best $8,529.99 (plus shipping) I ever spent in this hobby!!!!

$29.99 For Bunny and Organic Cage (carrots not included)

The PI 14 is currently unavailable due to parts shortage

Dang, well I can't say I'm surprised; those "Independent Power & Glory Switches" are hard to come by. Frank must have bought out there remaining supply.

First I thought this was just a joke. Then I realized that Rane is a legitimate pro audio company and worried that it wasn't a joke. Then I realized that Rane were having a little joke. You never know these days...

I bet one of the audiophile magazines will find it one of the best, this month.  Probably only made better with special cabling.

The Rane PI-14 is purportedly compatible with this Crown amplifier:
