Just to clarify, these were the Penta labs spec'd shuggies. I would have to agree with Tyson the way he interprets the lower noise floor giving a deeper soundfield is exactly what I heard in my very different system. They just have a smoothness yet accuracy about them that I have not heard from any other 88. Most of the time you trade smoothness for articulation, not the case with the pentas, they seem to do both quite well.

I also want to add that Tysons ellys are sounding fabulous with the new SB accoustics tweeter. Great setup!

Thanks, Pez and Tyson, for your findings.

I went to the Penta Labs website but could not find any prices (which always scares me).  Could you be so kind as post what you paid for them?  I'm looking for an octet and so far the best price I have found for the Gold Lions is ~$400 plus shipping.  Sure I can get others for less but we all know a tube amp is only as good as the tubes it runs.

I'll understand if you don't want to post publicly. PM instead?
