Why upsample to 24 bit

Why is it better to upsample to 24bit in the Off Ramp instead of leaving it in its native format? Those who wish to upsample can do it with the DSP while playback.

There is no choice in this.  The Off-Ramp Driver changes to 24-bit.  This is not upsampling.  The music data is not modified.  You will find that the sound quality with both PC and Mac is improved from 16/44.1 to 24/44.1.  This is why Sonos also does this.
