Hi Manny,

No I do not think we want to get involved in anything video based and to optimize CD playback you have to go in a different direction than video based playback equipment to ensure optimal sonic performance.

James, in a previous reply you mentioned this new product will be able to connect to a file server via Ethernet.Which file system protocols will it support CIFS/SAMBA and NFS?

I quickly breezed through this thread and apologize up front if this was mentioned/discussed earlier, but will there be a remote control and any way to view album covers etc. (i.e. Logitech Squeezebox Controller)?

Have you a forecarst about the launch for this nice gear?
When is it possible to order this device.
Since I've the BDA-1 in my system I don't use the DA-converter of my CD player...

Hi Ralf,

With the move toward computer based hi-res files we will probably not develop a drive only CD player.

While a volume control would be great for addition - I believe you are “flirting” with disaster by incorporating a volume level display on any of the Bryston preamplifiers.

I would offer to you that the aesthetics of Bryston audio equipment is timeless.

Incorporate the volume level display into the remote control if you are considering the addition of this feature, after all - this would be a very simple modification and the only mod to the pre-amplifier would be a “polling circuit” to send the volume level information to the remote control.

Remember - less is more

I was thinking the same thing. There is enough gating in the bp26 already. A visual gauge of the volume is pointless anyways imo.

I stand with Laundrew and werd.

I like the austere, elegant look of Bryston's equipment.

Total class is the look of Bryston, and the absence of any flashiness is a testament to how I see Bryston: if it hasn't anything to do with sound, you won't find it on a Bryston.

My idea of a volume display on my BP26 is a little orange dot placed over the hash mark on the volume knob.

If you start putting flashy displays, lights, and meters on the gear it may increase the numbers of thefts.

I'm pretty sure at least one house has been robbed where the thief walked by about $10k worth of stuff like Bryston to steal a $500 TV and a Sony receiver.

It was like when my farther's car repair shop got robbed - they used a $20k tool that was in the office to break into the desk where my father had $20. Then they moved a box full of Mercedes and BMW keys out of the way to get to a Volvo key that went to a 25 year old beat up wagon.

In all, they made it out with a $500 at best car, $20 in cash, a screw driver and a pair of pliers.

A couple of rocket surgeons.
