Hi Robert,

No - they are a storage device. All computers have USB slots.  So just insert the USB in your computer - download the music files off the computer to the USB drive - take the USB drive to the Bryston player... insert, and like magic you have music!

No harddisc, no streamer no display, no CD player or ripper, no fans - it will be a state of the art high resolution (44.1 to 192/24Bit) dedicated digital file player that connects through the AES-EBU input on our BDA-1 External DAC. All in one music servers have serious issues with noise and distortion so we are going to separate the 'digital processing' (playing music files) from the 'data management', (storage and handling etc.).

This should be GREAT and it sounds as if it will do truly hi-rez files! It will be a perfect match to a great DAC. Glad to hear that Bryston has gone for what appears to be a great implementation.

I just installed a Transporter and can tell you that I really enjoy the sound quality. Plus, I've got instant acces to thousands of songs and there's no computer to futz with unless I choose to.

James, can the BDA-1 be modified from the standard out puts.
Reason why I ask… I’m using the AES/EBU now as well 1 one of the SPDIF for My BCD-1
I would like to add 1 AES/EBU and remove 1 SPDIF.

The standard of the BDA is
 • 1x USB
• 4x SPDIF (co-axial wire)
• 2x optical (TOSLINK)
• 1x AES/EBU
As Well Can the Front of the BDA be modified as well

The Reason for all of this is to accommodate your new Product

I want to use another  AES/EBU connection for the New  Baby !

besides the above,as I seem to like using the BCD-1 a hair more than the BDA-1(they're close),
I will be now be able to use the BDA-1 the way she was meant.Shit,I almost forgot,I now have wait for the new Bryston piece to come out and purchase her :o.I do still have room though :thumb:.
