Oh yeah, you can still model maximum output. That's a given.

...I have a smaller follow up model, to what was going to be called the Venue, in the works...

That sounds interesting! I just might be able to get away with something like that in my cramped living room. Here's a stupid question. Say if I want to swap the Acoustinators with the servo drivers from 'The Speaker Formerly Known as Venues', and increase the frontal width, would it work?

If you were to do that then you might as well go with the 12" P-Audio driver and build the speaker formally known as the Venue. There isn't much difference in the cost of the drivers.

Thanks for the reply. I guess from a space as well as cost perspectives, the newer design would make much more sense for me. Any idea how much the shipping weight of the kit would be for India? I'm very much interested in this design and hoping to hear more about it, especially vis-a-vis it's big brother...

Me too.  I've tired of waiting for my ULW-10 to get fixed and I want to buy a super-accurate reference subwoofer for my studio, but I don't want it much larger than the ULW-10 was. (around a foot, cubed)  I don't need huge output because it's a small room and I listen nearfield, and I don't need extreme low extension because it will not be put into ht duty.  I just need clean, accurate bass at moderate levels down to 25hz or so.

Then you guys should consider our SW-12B woofer. Optimal sealed enclosure is 1.1 cubic feet. So it is right there with you limited size requirement. Plus it is a 12" long throw woofer.

Those looking for an small, articulate sealed sub...but for whatever reason don't want to build your own...Amazon has the Martin Logan Dynamo on sale for $325 shipped.  It's well reviewed and might be a worthwhile replacement to the ULW/UFW-10.  Not trying to pimp non-GR products here...just giving another option.  If this is inappropriate I will gladly edit my post.

Danny,

What's the f3 for the SW-12B in a 1.1 cuft box?  Could you use something like the Elemental designs eQ.2 (http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?t=1&products_id=657) to apply some low end EQ to get more extension?

-3db is 38Hz, but if you have the crossover set to 40Hz or so then what was one -6db down is the new -3db down. So that will get you into the mid to low 20's.

I need to cross mine over significantly higher.  38hz might be sufficient though.  Something to think about for sure.

Shouldn't that be the V.5 or V2?

Looking forward to more details.

Oh, I can't wait to get you more info on this one.

I just disassembled the test box. I am going to make a finished pair as quick as I can.

The 8" P-Audio coaxial sounds great. In some ways maybe better than the 12 inchers.

The two twelves below are not servo controlled but I am adding some fancy slope shaping to the amp that powers them to maintain a flat response. They don't have the control of the servo subs but still sound really good. It might be more along the lines of the sound of the subs in an Orion.

Baffle width is only 10.5" so WAF goes up a little too.

Not heavy and not expensive. I am shooting to keep the whole kit under $1,200 including the amps for the subs. And yes that includes four 12" subs.
