I would like to hear Quad ESL speakers
« on: 13 Jun 2009, 04:59 pm »
I did not see an obvious place to post this in the new site format.  There is no general equipment or speaker circle.  Then a brilliant thought (I hope).  Post in the NCAL circle since I am only interested in speakers local to Sacramento.

I would love to hear a good Quad setup.  Can anyone help?

Thanks, Don

Berndt

Is there a quad model you wish to hear?
I have a friend running homebrew 300b's and vinyl through rebuilt 57's.
This is in SF though.

is an extremely friendly and accommodating Quad dealer, if you want to drive that far.

However, the store is permeated with cigar smoke.

Berndt,

I am primarily interested in the 2805 and 2905 models.  The ESL 988/989 are not currently available in the US according to their distributor.

I am not sure hearing an older model would be helpful especially if the amps and source are too far from what I use (solid state and digital).  I was also hoping for something closer with easier driving.  I find driving in SF and vicinity very intimidating.  There must be a zillion people living in the 80 corridor but all the audiophiles seems to orbit SF.  But thanks for the offer.  I appreciate the response.

Bob, thanks for the information.  San Jose is a bit far.
