OMG! My first Aha!

I have finally achieved a sytem that sounds as though there are real live perfomers sitting in my living room playing their instruments...

Source Material:

  Beethoven Cellosonaten OP. 5; Mischa Maisky & Martha Argerich;
  Deutsche Grammophon; 1991

CD Player:

  Denon DVD1600 from www.denon.com

DAC:

  Perpetual Technologies P3-A from www.av123.com

Speakers:

Audio Concepts 25th Anniversary Sapphires from www.audioc.com

Processor:

Rotel RX1050 Stereo Receiver from www.rotel.com

Interconnects and TOSLink:

  Silversonic from www.audioc.com

All of these companies work very hard to provide just this moment for people who really care about audio. My thanks to all of them.

Now on to the Tweaks!

Why mess with perfection?

Many have acheived with you have, just to step past it, and could never get it back again.

Hold on to it!!!!!

Good advise JLM.  I did it twice.  Not that I was in nirvana but there were two memerable times that I enjoyed my system no matter what.

Now is the time for soul searching BeeBop.

Are you in it to play with (buy, trade, tweak) equipment?

Or are you a music lover?

IMO the 1st can never be satisfied.

Oh I am in it for the music. I can't afford to play. Right now things are running very well, but there are a few minor kinks that need to be worked out.

"a few minor kinks that need to be worked out..."

BeeBop, I am Board certified to tell you that those words indicate partial symptoms of a potential case of high rotation audiophilia nervosa.  :nono:

I know how much you have 'agonized' these last few months, and am pleased to report my glee, when I hear that people strike that Zen Zone of auditory alchemic orgasmia...my advice: don't screw with it too much, you can lose it. I know. I have, several times.

Is that cat wearing a Pomelo?

Unfortunately, the pomelo is not common in North America. If only! For those of you who do not know the pomelo, think of a sweet grapefruit. It is a wonderful SE Asian treat.

The cat is wearing a lime. The pic came with a joke that went like this...

"What do you get if you have a cat, and a bunch of guys who've spent the night watching Monday night football and drinking Mojitas...."

A Mojita is a Cuban drink that you  make with rum, lime juice, and ginger beer.

DMason, you are right. But there is this harshness in the the upper frequencies that just needs to be addressed. It's not brightness, but distortion. This has to be fixed.

Cheers!
