At time draws near for the delivery of my SS10’s time seems to slow down.   I think Einstein first wrote up that theory.

Hang in there!  Almost everyone that has contributed to this thread knows what you are going through.

That's right. Einstein said that time goes slower the closer you get to an object with a large mass - and given you're replacing your HT-1's with Soundscapes.....

Perhaps it will help if we run - at speed of light, or not - towards Jim to make time fly :)

Finally placed my order a couple weeks back for ST w/ domes, SC and the Salk Sub in Santos Rosewood. Wish it didn't take 45 actual days to actually complete 45 days (or so)  :P

If you get on a fast plane and fly west past the International Date Line enough times, your Salks will be delivered before you know it!

We held the second Salk GTG here in San Jose on Saturday and compared some DACs.  We had;

KShep (former SongTower owner)
stew (HT1-TLs)
ttsakai (HT-3s)
writeface (HT-3s)

and Jeff, who was shopping the Salk HT2-TLs.  ; )

We listened to the Tranquility Signature, Bryston BDA-1 and Wyred DAC 2.

The Tranquility SE (mine) had a laid back sound with a dense soundstage that was more forward than the other DACs.  The bass heads thought they got a little more thump with the Bryston and Wyred, both of which were less laid back.  None of the DAC owners heard anything that was going to make them run out and buy a different DAC.  Hopefully the others will chime in with their observations.  Being the host always seems to leave less time to listen.  ; )

We all agreed that the Modwright LS100 preamp sounded great.  I do need to resolve some of the other issues I've had with that preamp though.

Running a headless 2010 Mac Mini was a challange when switching DACs and external hard drives.  :o

I for one would love to hear more about the DAC comparisons.  That's an incredible list of DACs you guys compared.  I wish I could have been there!!

Thanks for sharing Bob.  :thumb:

I ordered my HT2-TLs on Dec 14th and was told to expect the wait to be about 45 days.  I thought the wait would be agonizing.  However, the first month went by pretty quick.  It's only now that I'm getting closer to 45 days that I'm getting anxious and time seems to be slowing down.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who suffered this effect.:green:

Can anyone share how much time they had between notification of their speakers being ready and actually receiving them?  I hope to have some lead time so I can try to arrange to be off work the day they are delivered.

Speaking of the day of delivery, I'm wondering if I'm going to able to unpack them by myself (I ordered the 3/4 MDF cabinet version).  Any suggestions?  Am I going to have to suffer through waiting until my partner comes home to help unpack them (now that wait would feel long!)?

There's only 1 way I know of to retrieve them designs from the dog but would that then make it a shitty design?  :jester:

Like Chris says, patience is a virtue,,, it'll all work itself out at the end.

dunno about anyone else, but when i got the notification from jim, i paid that day and they shipped out the next...  then add on however many days it takes to get from michigan to you...  jim would likely work with you on a ship date if you want them to show up on a particular day...

not sure on the 3/4's, but i would not have wanted to attempt to get mine (1" version) out of the boxes and up the stairs to my room all by myself, they are heavy and big (unlikely we could have gotten them upstairs without unboxing them first)...   they are easier to get on the plinths with a spare pair of hands too...

Thanks for the response.

I'll see what I can work out when I hear from Jim.

Fortunately, I don't have any stairs to deal with, so I think the main challenge will be getting them out of the boxes.  I guess I'll see how they are packed and go from there.  Some years ago I ordered an SVS cylinder sub (46" tall) and was able to unpack it myself due to the way it was packed, so we'll see.

Just a quick note for anyone waiting on a pair of ribbon-based speakers.  We have a standing order for an ongoing supply ribbon tweeters with RAAL.  We are expecting to hear from them very shortly on our next shipment.  As soon as they arrive, we will be shipping quite a few RAAL-based speakers.  But until they arrive, we will have quite a few pairs of speakers in a holding pattern.  We purchased all the RAAL ribbons we could get from other sources, but could only get a small part of what we needed.  Hopefully we'll hear from RAAL within the next few days.

I couldn't ask for better timing, just as I discovered this thread, Jim sent me an email to let me know they finished my speakers today! I placed an order for a HT2-TL based home theater setup with a 15" Rythmik sub on Nov 1st.

For me, it hasn't been as much of an issue with patience, but more of a motivation to finish painting the living room. We've been re-painting the interior for nearly six months now, and the living room is the last room to paint. I guess I should get to painting!

Hi Jim.

Any word on that RAAL tweeter order yet? :)

jsalk

I haven't checked with RAAL this week, but the last I heard is that they were expecting amorphous core magnets to arrive in Serbia yesterday.  They need about 1 week to build our tweeters and about 4 - 5 days to air freight them to us.  I am expecting them between the 3rd and 10th of February.
