Something tells me that accoustic treatments are not gonna have a high WAF in our family room.
Wow. I can't wait to see these!
Something tells me that accoustic treatments are not gonna have a high WAF in our family room. I'm sure if I finish the basement at some point and move the gear down there I'll have much more flexibility in that area.
Gik offers art panels that you can have them screen on your own photographs. Vintagebob has some and they look great.http://www.gikacoustics.com/gik_artpanel.html
True. Warpdrv has a panel done by them with a print of a close-up of piano keys from a diagonal, and it's just stunning. They do great work! Or you (Kinger) could try doing what I do and just say "I'm the head of the household and we're doing it." If my wife is anything like yours she'll just laugh because she knows who really wears the pants.

I'm also salking while waiting for my HT1-TL's to arrive. The malaise started around the New Year when I made the plunge, and has intensified since I heard the HT2-TLs at vintagebob's place last weekend! Bob was very gracious to invite me in for a listen, and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. We browsed through some of his demo discs, moved on to some CDs I had brought, tried a few scenes from movies and concerts to experience his amazing surround sound setup, and finished off with an LP. My first impression was how far forward the soundstage was! I liked it... it's possible some may not. It was if the performer was standing only a couple feet in front of me, right at my face level. I was struck by how clear and articulate the HT2's are. There was an amazing amount of detail presented, but not in an abrasive or harsh manner - the sound simply existed as it should exist. There was also a palpable 3-D soundstage when the CD contained the information (a lot of them don't!), which I am sure is not only attributable to Bob's equipment, but also to his copious amount of room treatments. An aside - I have since gone to Gik's website and will be ordering some panels with photos printed onto them... they had a great look in Bob's place and my gf has endorsed them To sum, the speakers let the music shine.... and I am so excited to receive mine I can barely stand it. I may have to take a couple of days off of work, stay home, open a good wine, and enjoy my music collection all over again.

I haven't posted since I was looking for an audition (thanks Bob and Haw) but I have made the plunge and according to FedEx, my honey-oak SongTowers just arrived in the capital of California. I have spent most of this very long week checking the fascinating cross-country sojourn of my soon-to-be-singing SongTowers. So finally - the six weeks of reading every damn forum entry, blog post and review I could find is over. Hopefully, by dog will start her manic FEDex truck bark tomorrow early! And then I will go to work? Due to budget, I am starting with just 2 SongTowers joining my Squeezebox, either a Denon 2800 or a Panny XR45 for power and a Rel Strata filling out the very bottom end (which should match well). For now, I will use the NHT Classic 3 Center for movies and SuperZeros for surrond. The STs will replace NHT Classic 3s mains which are moving to my workout room. In the past I have had NHT 2.5s, Maggie MMG, NewForm Research (fab speaker when I used to live in a bigger house with a dedicated music room). Hmm, I think I started with a complete Kenwood system that I bought at a "Crazy Eddie's Biggest Blowout Sale Ever" - before he went to jail. Next up will be either a center channel or better amplification - and maybe room treatment.
Great deal for someonecomplete 7.1 Songtower setuphttp://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1270310097&/Salk-SongTower-7.1-speaker-sys
Just went on a spending binge like a drunken sailor (but not as bad as a member of congress ) and placed my order for some HT2-TL's, an HTC, and some song surround 2's. And for giggles, a pair of the Rythmik F15SE's . Now the wait begins I guess I'll spend the time shopping for amps and making speaker cables.
Hell of a deal if you ask me. What is that, about 600 more than a 5.0 set up?
Yes! Nice setup.
