Hey Jim,

Great sticky post on choosing veneers!  That should help some people out.

Thanks.  It seems that I have to cover these things so often, I thought if I just put a few ideas together, I could direct people to the thread.  I hope to expand on it with pictures, etc. as time goes on.

Your patience will gradually decrease as the time marches on.    :thumb:

So far I've purchased an Onkyo 707, LG 390, Bluejean cables an A/V stand from www.standoutdesigns.com and I also purchased dual Epik Sentinels that I'm waiting on as well, they should be delivered within the next 2 weeks. All the companies I've dealt with have exhibited great customer service during & after the purchase and I would recommend all of them. Other than that I'm trying not to bug Jim and watch the clock... tick tock tick tock :) Right now I'm listening to HT on 35 year old JBL L100s given to me by my dad. Honestly I don't think they sound too bad either ;)

Not a great picture but a great stand.

I got the word from Jim!  My speakers are done and will ship out tomorrow.  These will be replacing some Polks which I have been happy with for years, but have been looking to upgrade.  I told my wife it is my mid-life speaker crisis:  I have to get them now while my ears are still good enough to appreciate them.  Ironically, I sold a 1993 300ZX and used the money to purchase the Salks.

Hi Jon     Remind us what Salks you decided on.  Sorry to hear about the Z car.  I bought the original 240Z (new) way back in the day.  It rusted out in 3 years ( I lived about 20 miles south of Jim's house on the I94 rust corridor), and I replaced it with a '73 BMW 2002 that I still have.   Anybody want to buy a completely rusted out '73 2002?  I need new speakers.

I got a pair of SongTowers, a SongCenter, and a SongSub.  The car's departure was actually a good thing.  I have no time to take care of it.  193,000 miles.  No rust and in great shape.  A guy I worked with bought it for his son.  I know my first car was nothing close to a 300ZX!  I'm going to enjoy the Salks way more than I ever would enjoy the car at this point.

I got the FedX call this morning at 7am!  Speakers will arrive sometime this morning.  I'll be going into work late.  Good thing there is nobody here to help me move them, or I may not make it to work at all!

Add me to the long list of happy customers.  The speakers arrived at 11 am.  I fully intended to go to work after the delivery.  Well, I just HAD to unpack them.  Well, I should haul them into the house from the garage.  Well, I should hook them up.  Well, I guess I'll not be going to work today.  :-)  The packing was phenomenal and everything arrived perfectly.  I really appreciate the cd Jim included.  I put that in and played the first track and just sat on the couch with my jaw dropped open.  Really.  After I recovered from that, I just was reduced to a grin for the rest of the time.  I quickly jumped through various tracks of my SACDs, trying to fit samples in before I had to pick my daughter up after school.  It is amazing how the speakers reveal the quality of different recordings.  I'm certainly no critical listening expert, but the clarity of the vocals, especially the female vocals, just astounds me.  I haven't had time yet to calibrate with Audessey.  I'll get that done Wednesday.  Unfortunately I have to go out of town Saturday and return Sunday evening.  I can't wait to have my friends over to hear these amazing speakers.

I'll post more review thoughts along with pictures later next week.

I know this is a post for everyone waiting on ther speakers , but I believe my journey has ended. I went through alot of gear to get here and this is what I ended with... I hope .

The preamp is an Odyssey Candela using GE 5814 tubes
Cd player -Marantz sa15s1
Amp- Butler TDB 2250 tube hybrid amp

My crowning glory , The Butler Tdb2250 amp. Sweet tube sound ad SS muscle. This amp has given me a nice deep sound stage , something I was missing. It has finesse.Nice low bass punch.I borrowed 2 of these run in mono last month from a friend and believe me 800 watts mono is amazing . I will have to save for a second one  :nono:.

My interconnects

Pre to Amp - Grover S
Cd player -Audioquest Sky,48vdbs
Speakers -Audioqest CV-8 , 48v dbs

Power cords

Pre -VH Audio
CD player- Unknown maker
Amp-Lessloss

here is a quick pic

A quote from Jim.

"The cabinets completed their second sealer session yesterday.  After this is sanded, we will determine if they need a third or are ready for final topcoat.  People who come into the shop are wowed by how cool they look.  You'll love them."
