Nuance

Thanks for the advice.  Was just reading up on house curves, and came across some good links, so posting here for any others interested:

Nuance - do you use only sub eq, or do u eq the rest of the frequency range too? Links above suggest dialing down the higher frequencies too..

Now if only Jim could get the speakers made, I can start trying all this out  :green:

I am sorry that I missed this question.  I only EQ below the crossover, as I believe one shouldn't EQ above the Schroeder Frequency.  That's highly debatable, of course, and I would never force my opinion down someone's throat.  Well, unless they say Salk speakers are bad; then it's on! LOL! :D

I added my name to the waiting list.  I jumped on a pair of SoundScape 10s before the price increase.  Yikes!  :o

Oooooooooooooh yeeeeeeeeeeeeah!  Congrats brother!

Congratulations!  With your system they should sound kick ass!  :thumb:

Congratulations!  I thought about going into debt and just purchasing some HT2-TL's before the price increase goes into effect, but my rational side just wouldn't let me do it.

You'll regret it!

There are these though! http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=92819.0

PS The only caveat is that even though the SoundScapes will sound better they won’t be “The voice of my beloved(HT2-TL’s)”.  That will pass over time though.

Ah, that's good to know. Guess I will try with the sub first and see how it goes..

I placed my order for my HT2TL last week, as I posted.  Then I read all 42 pages on this forum and came up with a bunch of ideas and have been e-mailing Jim everyday tweaking the visuals and parts.  Pretty sure I am driving Jim crazy, lol.  Pretty excited though.

My SoundScapes are in the "Veneering Stage".

What do you think, a couple more weeks? (Jim emailed me and said, "don't get excited yet")   :green:

It's time to consider placement options.  I may need to move these closer to the back wall than my HT2-TLs were to enhance the rear wave?

For my tastes, the usual issue is that there is too much back wave.  This can cause a lack of clarity and blurring of the sound.   Jim Salk has carpet or wall treatment on his home theater walls and can run the SoundScapes without dampening material in the midrange chamber.  He has the SoundScapes several feet from the back wall.   I have a typical home room and the back of the speaker is only a couple of feet from the wall.  I heavily dampen the midrange and have an absorber/diffuser on the back wall.

Been lurking around the forums quietly thus far, though now I put my deposit down on my new songtowers + songcenter + custom dye job (more on this later) and so I'm anxious to get my name on the list :)

Ordered - sep 15
Expected delivery - Nov 15 or better

Welcome!  I've added you to the list.  What will you do while you wait for your Songtowers?

Ordered Songbirds on 8/16. Since they are custom veneer they should be done about mid Oct. Ordered Blue Jeans cables for them. Only took three days to get them. Other than that I am just waiting and trying not to think about it too much.

Gzerro

Wow you are fast. I see I am already on the list!

Things I plan to do while I wait in rough order of priority:

1) Work on improving my room with some modest room treatments.
2) Ordering Blue Jeans Cables for my new setup.
3) Trying to figure out the best way to take room measurements (REW maybe). I have a Radio Shack SPL meter and have mapped out the Bass frequencies using test tones and found my room to be pretty flat all things considered, so maybe that's enough.
4) Reading Floyd E. Toole's Book "Sound Reproduction"
5) Obsessing over what I should do to upgrade my Onkyo 807 (if anything)
6) Considering future upgrades to my HSU STF-2 Sub
7) Trying to decide if I really want to add a turntable to my system (and then obsess over finding deals on used LPs)

The first thing I did was buy speaker cable and interconnects from BJC; much better than what I had before. Now I have upgrade fever...maybe a squeezebox touch next.

I doubt he would say that it sounds as good as the AVA 600R.

no, I was considering the Samsons based on the buzz generated on audiogon and your insights Pete

Jim did comment that he enjoyed the sound of my BAT VK600
