me too.  I just restart the Mac and it works.  Yes, it's annoying...

Restart your Mac or Amarra/iTunes?

Check out:

I saw that, but am of the opinion it's a non-issue. Consider it a device driver.

Alright pal, I'm trusting you on this one.

Lord knows I don't trust what PACE says about it.

I still don't like the iLOK though.

thanks

Amarra Update.

There is indeed a fix in the mix for the filename length issue.  I've just tested it and it seems to correct the filename issue with Album.  Still a slight issue with special characters on Artist.

I was asked not to make the link public, so I shan't.

Note for the terminally curious, they've apparently been working on this for a while - they've had at least 4 builds in the interim to prepare for the 1.1 release, if you know what I mean.

When will version 1.1 be released?  Last Email I received from SS was will be available at RMAF. Well that didn't happen.

I need the software to read Apple LOSSLESS files and their web pages suggest ver1.1 will do just that.

Thanks.

When will version 1.1 be released?

I'm not sure when it will be released - I do know they are working very diligently to resolve both the unicode/special character issues, as well as the file name length issues.

I received a new version to test yesterday, and it processes ALAC files perfectly, except for long file names.  Unicode stuff seems to work fine, plus it now lets iTunes play all manner of weird file types as well as it always did.  In the past, iTunes 'protected' files were a BIG problem (high level static/noise), and sample rates less than 44.1k got the "Alvin & the Chipmunks" treatment, when played back through Amarra/iTunes, but that's all fixed now.

For those keeping track - you know who you are - there have now been 6 releases since 3178.  ;)

cheers,
clay

I have a problem with 3184.  Amarra always starts with the Equalizer on. I can't seem to alter this.

I repaired permissions, deleted everything before installing.

Yep, that's a newly introduced bug.  They were trying to fix a problem whereby the Eq button did not remain 'on' for subsequent starts.  Now it apparently comes on all the time.

I've reported it. Wouldn't hurt if you did as well.

PS, the long file names problem is also back for me, but you never had that problem, right?

For some reason, I never had problems with the file name length. I guess the computer hardware is playing a role in this.

I think it's karma.  You supported Amarra rather quickly/early.  I was rather critical for quite a while, given the price and that I didn't understand what it's doing.  Still don't. And would still prefer a cheaper alternative.

Last December I approached Audiofile Engineering about making a music player since Amarra wasn't going to be used without their hardware at that time. I brought in an industry person to encourage Matthew to write a first class music software program for OSX. Matthew agreed, and now the program is moving into Beta.

I suspect that many of us will want to own both programs.

That's great news. 8)

Is there any advanced info on the new player?  In particular, does it do sample rate changes automatically?

I haven't seen the Beta and have no info.  But auto sample rate change was something we asked for.

Sorry.

I'll put in my usual plug for Play by Stephen Booth.  (http://sbooth.org/Play/)  It's free (!), although I'm sure he always appreciates contributions.

The latest "unstable" version supports automatic sample rate switching.  He's also rewriting the playback engine portion so that Play can support 192 KHz sample rate and the use of "HOG" mode in CoreAudio.  The latter is kind of like a hot rod software operating mode that bypasses some of the CoreAudio stages in OS X and gives exclusive use of the output device and driver path to the program that "hogs" it.  Don't you love the names software guys give to things?

This is a stand alone program that doesn't use iTunes for playback in any way.  The user interface isn't as graphically oriented as iTunes, but to me playback sounds a bunch better.

Why do you think?  Just curious

I own Amarra and am on the beta list...

Play is a nice program but lacks major functionality. There is no way to load a library and there in no iphone/ipod touch remote interface. IMO, these are major drawbacks in compared to other programs.
