Porter Port
« on: 1 May 2009, 07:30 am »
Yes and I remember a long time ago listening to the Porter receptecale on my stereo,But I had installed it in the wrong location in my house near the gfi circuits in my kitchen which is right next to the living room.
Well for almost 2 years or more it did not work in that location. After reading about the posting of Porter Ports on this site I said well that does it. I will swap out the Porter Port and put it in the living room where my electrician brother in law told me to put it at. Yes I do procrastinate alooot. Like what took me so long!
Well I must say I have a complete different system now from what I had then and the Porter Port was a shocking improvement on my new SET System. Its like someone lifted a blanket off the speakers WOW WOW WOW. iTS AFTER MIDNIGHT AS i'M TYPING THIS and need to get some sleep maybe not LOL.
Every aspect of the sound is much more transparent clean, and clear beyond words WOW.
I will report back from more of what is going on as I listen alot more the next day or 2.
Happy Listening
Don C.

Where exactly did you get this porter receptacle?
I can't seem to find it.

I had 4 of these in a dedicated 20A circuit for my HT setup (in the home I just sold) and they work exceptionally well.

Quite happy with mine...2nd installation of it.

The leap from $0.39 contractor special to $9.00 (it's now $10.93...INFLATION!!! ha) Lowe's Hospital Grade was vast....the further move to the Porter Port wasn't as revelatory to $36.  But, just valuing $36 next to what the rest of this hobby cost makes it a good value onto itself.

I tried the PS Audio Power Port, the original version at $49, and the Porter Port sounds more natural to these ears :thumb:

Still, don't poo-poo the $11 Lowe's Eagle-brang ports....they're really decent, too, for the price.

I have to agree with you there.
I went to Lowes and bought that exact same AC outlet thanks to you :thumb:

If your house is new construction like mine, you probably have those 59 cent outlets.

Ten bucks and 10 minutes to install. Worth the money and effort.

Dang inflation...I think those outlets have gone up over $1.15 in 4 years now.  Are they still Eagle brand there?
