Anyone else see this?  I thought the first 90 minutes were very very good...but that the whole explanation and ending were major disappointments.  :(

I've been on the fence about seeing this one in the theater.  Seems like it might be worth the effort. When movies try to do the wrap it all up nicely at the end method it usualy doesn't go over well.  Don't know what approach this one takes but 90 minute of enjoyment is good.  I've sat through 2 plus hours of some movies and questioned my time spent the whole way through.

What I really liked about the first 90 minutes of this one is how well it raises all the questions...is our destiny pre-determined or is life a series of random events?  Are we alone in the universe?  On more personal levels, how do we deal with tragedy? etc?  It was like M. Night Shyamalan at his very best (and yes, I know he has been at his very worst ever since Sixth Sense).  Yes, the special effects throughout the movie were pretty cool and probably worth seeing in a theater (so good, in fact, that they are actually quite distiburbing)...but I don't think you'd need to see this in a theater to really appreciate those first 90 minutes.  However, the way the film answers those questions is IMHO the main reason why I didn't like the ending...not that it was "tidy", but more that it was kind of a lazy way to answer the questions raised...

Not a bad action drama for something to watch.  Although I was not really entertained.  I think I am almost done with Cage, since he's gone really mainstream most of his lastest efforts are just not pleasing to me (watchable but dull.)  This movie kind of annoyed me throughout and the acting was borderline bad from just about everyone and mainly Cage.  But to be fair to Cage, IMO he's not really a good all around actor.

I agree, Cage cannot act. I thought this was not as bad as his films usually are though.

I rented and watched this movie on Saturday.  I agree with this review as the first 90 minutes were very good and the ending was a disappointment.  2.5 stars.
