Do Aussies eat kangaroo?
Quote from: satfrat on 26 Mar 2009, 08:25 amDo Aussies eat kangaroo? We eat two species of kangaroo (plus one wallaby), emu (so that accounts for the coat of arms), two species of crocodile, a couple of native freshwater fish, a few native duck species and a range of ferals - camel (excellent quality meat), Asian water buffalo, rabbit, pig and the odd deer.Koala are inedible. They taste like liver flavoured with eucalyptus cough drops.Cane toads are inedible. But excellent sport.European carp are inedible. Despite the protestations of our Asian and Eastern European brethren to the alternative.Australian loudspeaker manufacturers (and their products) are inedible. But only because if we ate them then there'd be no-one to make such lovely product. Plus there's a quite a few that wouldn't have much "plate appeal'.Same goes for most Australian hifi component makers.......but only because we might catch something cause they are often a little loopy.

NONSENSE! You just have to know how to prepare carp! Here, try this:Take a large carp, and gut, clean, and scale it like you would any other fish.Soak it in clean cold water for 24 hours in the fridge.Set the fish on a large piece of aluminum foil and cover it with all sorts of vegetable, potatoes, celery, onions, you name it, and add a little salt. Wrap the aluminum tightly around the fish and the veggies.Set the package on a piece of hardwood also wrapped in aluminum foil, and bake it for 300 degrees for three hours.Take it out of the oven and let it cool for 20 minutes, then throw away the fish and eat the board.
