ground loop problem, need help!
« on: 20 Mar 2009, 12:54 am »
so i'm new to the whole ground loop thing and i could use a little help. i have all of my equipment (turntables, mixer, speakers) plugged into the same 3-prong power strip. this strip is then plugged into an outlet that, sadly, is a 2-prong outlet (my apartment is OLD), thus there is a converter involved. could this be the source of the problem?
the hum is starting to bore into my brain, any and all insight would be much appreciated.

I wonder if your apartment meets the fire code for your area. You might want to ask the landlord to replace the outlets, if not the entire service.

Try to have everything plugged into the same outlet. Disconnect Cable connections. The idea is to have everything connected at the same place. How is everything set up now? If everything was already plugged into a single outlet then I guess it is the three prong to two prong adapter.
