Bamboo Purity L/P preamp
« on: 15 Mar 2009, 05:07 pm »
Good afternoon AC'ers.

There was some discussion in the Salk thread about a Purity L/P done in Bamboo. The comments were how plain it looked. As not to hi-jack Jim's thread, I wanted to start a new one to clarify a few things about this piece.

This was my first attempt at Bamboo veneer. Kudos to those who have mastered working with Bamboo veneer. It's difficult at best. At the time this picture was taken, this piece was not yet completed. Since this time, new knobs have been installed as well as ventilation holes in the top plate which add some contrast to the Bubinga.

I have also started working with some dyes. Now playing with dying some nice Quilted Maple as well as curious how dyes react with the Bamboo.

Thank you Les,
It really does look much better now (not so plain) with the proper control knobs installed. It has been running in our main system for several weeks now and I am now doing some tube rolling with plenty of NOS 12AU7s to play with.
