Packaged deal on the servo subs with cabinets!
« on: 3 Mar 2009, 09:07 pm »

This package deal cuts the total cost down so low that there can be no excuses for not having the best sounding sub currently available.

Brian is making me a killer deal on the A300 amp with the servo control system, and Honey Oak enclosures. So I am passing it on to you guys and cutting the price of the SW-12-04 to boot. Now you can get a great packaged deal at a great price.

I am cutting the cost of the enclosures to $200. I am cutting the cost of the amp to $200 and I am cutting the cost of the SW-12-04 woofer to $129.

That leaves a total cost at only $529 plus some shipping. It doesn't get any better than that.

This deal is on the Honey Oak enclosures only as he has a lot of stock on them, wants to move them, and those are the ones that he made me the deal on. If you want the Black Oak boxes then add $50.

See info on the A300 amp here: http://www.rythmikaudio.com/amplifiers.html

See the sub here: http://www.gr-research.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=139

and here: http://www.rythmikaudio.com/GR_drivers.html

This is an Audio Circle advertised special only and is not available on line. You'll need to call GR Research to order.

GR Research: 940-592-3400

This is a limited time only offer and I can only offer this deal until April the 10th. So you better hurry.

This is a great deal. :thumb: From all reports these are SOTA subs. If I had the loose dollars would buy one or two to complement my current sub and help solve room acoustical problems following the Swarm theory which states, up to a point, the more subs the better.

Is there any info on the enclosures?
Is this in kit form or assembled?

Thanks

Danny,

Can this package be upgraded to the A370PEQ amp?

It seems that the A370PEQ will offer more in terms of system integration.

This is a kit, assembly required. But it is so easy to put them together. The enclosure is 15-3/4"(W)x15-3/4"(H)x17"(D) with internal volume of 1.8 cu ft. They are ready to install. Come with a grille (grille adds 1-1/4"), sturdy packing box.

This is offered as a package and I cannot offer this type of discount on A370PEQ. IMO, I think A300 amp in this enclosure is a perfect match if you have HT receiver.  A300 is just as musical as A370PEQ. The power difference of 20% is not really much in the real world.

Danny or Brian,

How would a pair of these work for HT?

Would I be better off going with a pair of OB subs with two drivers per enclosure?

Thanks,

George

The PEQ version is not on sale but you can upgrade to it. It is $79 more.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you want clean tight bass response flat to 20Hz and -3db down in the teens, then sure. If you are looking for all of that and in a small box, then you betcha.

It sounds pretty different than most home theater subs though. It doesn't have that big boomy decay that follows each hit. It also is not designed to be the last word in max SPL.

But within the limitations of the amount of air that a 12" sub can move, nothing sounds better.

OB subs are awesome. Just keep in mind that you can't stick them in a corner. They have to be out into the room.

Any chance of an 8" or 10" version of this sub in the future?

There is a possibility of a smaller one. We have been working with the servo control system using a 6.5" woofer and my try it next with an 8.

Very cool.  This is a great package deal, but I just can't justify it for a small setup.  Thanks!

A good setup for a really small room at really low cost would be this amp at only $89.95:

http://www.apexjr.com/ApexJunior.htm

Then one of our SW-12B's in a 1.0 cubic foot sealed box, only $99.

http://www.gr-research.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=131

Then build your own MDF box...

The sale price on the SW-12-04 is only good if you buy the amp and enclosure.

Does this enclosure include the bracing in the design below, or is it a basic box?

The bracing is a bit different as shown here: one vertical and one horizontal.

Thanks for the feedback and comments guys.

I definitely have the room for the OB design, so I am leaning towards going with a pair of the dual driver OB's.

Looks like the cost would only be slightly more than a pair of the subs in this package deal.

Of course, I will need to build the "cabinets" and boxes to mount the amps in, but it still looks like the way to go.
