Hi Paul and Sanjay,

What kind of source are you feeding into the Overdrive that you are relating in your initial impression ?  SB3 ?  CD Transport ? Do you have the pacecar in between ? and what interface are you using ?  SP/DIF ?  or I2S ?  Thanks.

My Empirical Audio modified Northstar 192 transport interfaces my Pacecar via I2S and my SB3 interfaces via SP/DIF. I toggle between the two on the PaceCar and it interfaces with my Overdrive via I2S.  aa

Hi Paul, Sanjay:

I do have the volume control on the Platinum DAC III, so I'm not using a pre-amp.  The upsampling is 8X on 44.1 and 48 KHz signals.  The upsampling can be enabled or disabled based on a toggle selector.  I prefer the sound with the upsampler enabled, but this might be because I've always used some kind of upsampling on either the transport or DAC side.

Overdrive in my system spared the following ....

1) Old DAC.
2) Preamp.
3) Power cord for the old DAC
4) Power cord for the preamp
5) XLR interconnect between the OLD dac and the preamp.
