Well, the transmission went on our 2000 Honda Odyssey, 140K miles.
So we did our our part to help the struggling economy:


We got the auto since the highway RPM is so much lower than with the manual, as well as for the frequent traffic during commuting.
It's got steering wheel mounted paddle shifters that so far seem to work really well - You have excellent controll over engine speed/engine braking. Very tight body structure.
We got the car for invoice (~16.5$) and they gave us $1500 for the van (broken tranny ($3100 to fix), neither sliding door worked ($900 to fix) brakes need work...)
Hoping it'll be a fun, economical commuter car for years to come...
