Well, the transmission went on our 2000 Honda Odyssey, 140K miles.
So we did our our part to help the struggling economy:




We got the auto since the highway RPM is so much lower than with the manual, as well as for the frequent traffic during commuting.

It's got steering wheel mounted paddle shifters that so far seem to work really well - You have excellent controll over engine speed/engine braking. Very tight body structure.

We got the car for invoice (~16.5$) and they gave us $1500 for the van (broken tranny ($3100 to fix), neither sliding door worked ($900 to fix) brakes need work...)

Hoping it'll be a fun, economical commuter car for years to come...

Yikes, sorry. 2009 Honda Fit Sport, 5 sp auto. 1.5L 117 HP. Hope to average 35 mpg.

I checked one out a few months ago (before they were dealing on it) and the top line Honda Fit model with all the doodads (including nifty manu-matic) was $20,500 locally.

I didn't drive it, but was stunned at the interior room.  You look at the inside and the next moment inside and you cannot believe it's the same vehicle.  Very slick.

I was only disappointed with the spartan interior....it looked every bit the <$20K econobox it otherwise doesn't look like

Huge amount of room through the back hatch with the seats down. A friend of mine actually got a craigslist washer and dryer in the car at the same time. The seller bet him the total price that he couldn't get them in the car so he got them for free. He had to come show me and brag.

The "Fit" reminds me of another Honda I use to drive....Civic hatchback...it was a fun car...and got excellent mileage.

I just took a 5 hour drive from Philly to Shenandoah VA in the back seat of a Fit...great room back there, lots of cup holders, and more headroom than just about any car I can think of (I'm 6'3"...not feeling cramped is a surprise in a car that looks like the Fit on the outside). 

I drove it around for a while to get to Old Rag mountain...very fun to drive!
