Sorry for the thread title Randog and I don't mean to make light of your situation but I just couldn't resist,, especially considering that's just what my Lorelei's are doing right now,,,, cooking up a storm. These 2 way loudspeakers are continuing to get better at 8 weeks old. :o  The expansive soundstage is so incredibly surreal that I ended up having to go into the dolby pro logic 2 (music) menu and shutting off the panoramic because it was adding too much expansion. This is something I've never done before, actually back off trying to increase the soundstage in my smallish room. As it is now, the notes just linger in the air with no hint of it's source. This is audio perfection to my ears that I've always dreamed of. When it come to the Odyssey lineup of loudspeakers, hearing is believing without seeing.(if that makes any sense ) Regards, Robin

While reading your post your words in the background repeated to me: "You can't escape from buying these awsome spekers", hope I can get the $$ real quick, but it won't be possible before this year...

Congratulations I hope I can hear to them soon...

Icefox I'm still in Hong Kong, but leaving in January.

I got the dark cherry finish.  The last floor stander I owned (a Proac 2.5 clone) was disappointing so I have big hopes for the loreleis!!

I got my Loreleis and Extreme Monos!  I haven't really played around with them too much as I'm packing them up to ship to Australia.  I just checked to make sure they're working for insurance purposes.

I can't wait until I set them up propertly in my large living room in Australia.

One question for Lorelei owners.  Are the Loreleis meant to come with metal cones on the bottom like the 6moons review or is this a separate option?  Mine don't seem to have the 3 metal feet.

Cheers

Thanks Satfrat

Did you get the extra feet?  Did they make a difference?

I can't wait until I put these babies into action, although its going to take time to break in the Loreleis and the extreme monos.

Cheers

To tell you the truth, I haven't installed them yet. Sad huh,,, maybe tommorrow. Said that yesterday. From other cone applcations I've tried, I would imagine a little more defined soundstage would be had. I got a nice set of gold cones that complements the med. oak veneer. You are sure in for a treat when you get setup. And a wait too. Klaus talks about a long breakin time. My Lorelei's sounded awesome after 2 days. The amps might be a different story, I wouldn't know about that. I'll be looking forward to your reactions down the road, please share them. :D Regards, Robin

Chazz,
Call Klaus.  He'll make sure you get the cones if they haven't already shipped.

I have the dark red cherry Loreleis and opted for the black cones to match the black Scanspeak drivers.  The reality is, my carpet is so thick that very little of the cone is exposed thus rendering color a relatively mute issue.

The cones should tighten up the base a bit, and though I definetly wouldn't want to do without them I can't say I heard a dramatic difference once they were implemented.

What are your other components?

I have the dark cherry too!

I'll call Klaus when he's back from Holidays.  He still has to ship to me the Platinum Face plates for my extreme monos.

My music set up consists of a Consonance Reference 2.2 CD player, Smart DIO, Monarchy audio DIP, Consonance Reference 1.1 Preamp and the Odyssey Audio Extreme Monoblocks.  My music tasts range from dance/trance (hence the solid state amps) to soft vocals (hence the tube preamp).

I'm trying to integrate HT to this set up without compromising the 2 channel set up.  A tough task!

I've traditionally been a bookshelf guy (currently have the N805s).  The last floorstanders I had I hated.  Imaging sucked compared to even the lowly B&W DM302s.  I'm having big hopes for the Loreleis especially matched with the Odyssey Amps.

I'll let you

Chazz,

I just ordered up a pair of Lorelei's and a Nemesis center, light cherry!!  Anyway, when I went home theater I immediately missed good 2 channel and I've been trying to get back to good 2 channel ever since.  I think I've been pretty successful.

The way I have everything set up I've actually got two dedicated rigs pretty much all together. When I listen two channel, it's PURE two channel and the same for Home theater. I took the pre outs for my mains out of the Denon and ran them into the preamp DVD input.  Then when I calibrated the system I noted where the volume on the preamp was and marked it with a small piece of tape so that the volume gets set at the appropriate leve.  It goes like this

Two Channel
Source - Sony DVP-S7700
DAC - Scott Nixon Tubedac
Pre - Philly Audio Blues 7b - (TUBES!!)
Amp - Odyssey Stratos Stereo Extreme
Speaker - Polk RTA 11TL

Home Theater or TV
Source - Panny DVD player or Sat Box
Processor - Denon 3802 (also powers rear surrounds)
Pre - (Pass thru only) Philly Audio Blues 7b
Amp - Stratos for Mains and Newcastle AM9080 for center and side surrounds
Speakers - Polks, CS400i center, f/x 500i side surrounds, RT25i rear surrounds, SVS CS-2039 w/ 250watt plate amp.

So when I listen to music it's ONLY 2 channel, so it will be pure Lorelei     All this really required was pre outs on the processor and an extra set of interconnects.  That's it!  Works great and the 2 channel quality is not compromised in any way.

Thanks byteme.

That's what I'm currently doing too.  I have the Consonance Pre connected to a Yamaha DSPE800 which is specially designed as a "tack-on" to a 2 channel Rig.

In my quest to meld 2 channel and HT, one change which made the biggest difference was in replacing a CRT TV from between the speakers with a Screen and an LCD Projector (Panasonic AE300).    You get the big HT screen as well as improved sound!

OK Chazz, ya shamed me into finally installing my cones. First off, I personally don't like a 3 cone setup under floorstanding speakers and the fact that I have old slab hardwood floors that don't know what the word smooth means has allot to do with it. But I must say Klaud was right about the gold cones matching up with the med. oak finish, it's killer. The cones did tighten things up quite a bit for me, no carpet where my speakers lay helps. The bass is much firmer and the highs are squeeky clear. I gained a lot of microdynamics. What these cones really did the was highlight the need for room treatment. A pair of 8th Nerve Echos tomorrow should help somewhat. We'll see,,, :o Regards, Robin

I hate to do this to you but you're gonna crap when you hear what the room treatments can do.  You think you've got bass now?  Think you've got a quality, focused image?  Large, wide and DEEP soundstage??  Boy, are you in for a treat!!

Well Brian, you know what they say about payback? My wait's over, you enjoy the next few weeks,,,,   "quality, focus image : Large, wide and DEEP soundstage??" OK, I already had a qualty, large, and DEEP soundstage from my previous efforts utilizing balanced power conditioning, MANY Bybee's, and high end components. The addition of the cones on the Lorelei's plus the room treatments that include 2 Echo's from 8th Nerve and Golden Sound Acoustic Discs for the corners have accounted for a higher quality focus image of much greater detail. The bass from the main Lorelei's is so tight and focused that I'm finding myself listening to stereo. I have to feel for Capt. Humble for having his cones hidden by the carpet as these are a VERY nice looking & sounding touch. And a BIG thanks to Chazz for shaming me into finally installing them. :thumb: WAIT til you see/hear them Brian!! :o (payback)   :rotflmao:   Regards, Robin

Shucks, I still have over a month before I can set my babies up in Australia.  The wait is going to kill me.  AND I have to wait till the Odyssey Monos and Loreleis break in before I hear them properly..

I have the 8th Nerve Room treatment already.  Actually a whole bunch of them to tame my tiney toom here in HK.  I probably won't need as much in my new place which has heavy thick curtains on three sides.

Just a quick question for you guys.  I noticed that the rubber surrounds on the Scanspeak drivers are very soft.  It feels almost too thin compared to the ones on my B&WN805s.  Is this a characteristics of Scanspeak drivers? Just a little worried that if I drive them too hard they would fall off the speaker!!!

Cheers

I really wouldn't worry about those 8545 drivers Charles, they flex out pretty good and xan handle the power. My Butlers will do 150 watts and I've had the Lorelei's up to 106db to show off one time and they seemed to want more. I have a smallish 11' x 17' room with 3 curtains also and my average listening range is 88db but then again, I have a Lorelei in all 4 corners and 2 Nemisis centers in the front/rear so that db range is 360°. Anyways, I wouldn't fret the Lorelei's power handling, especially with that humvee crossover. :D Regards, Robin

Sounds like you have an awesome set up satfrat,  Any pics you want to share with us in the Gallery?  Might give me some ideas about how to set up my room!
