Anybody want to start a pool to see how long Marbles goes before he needs something new in his two channel system?  Being as he's done I'll bet 36 days.

Uh oh, do tweaks already in the works count?  I have told Chris at Teres that I want his new wood clamp and his new motor upgrades w/tape spindle

Those should be ready in a few weeks.

Rob - as a matter of fact, I have built some sample VMPS speaker Empirical jumpers for ROOP Audio Labs to try out.  Rupesh says if they work out, I may be in the jumper business....like I need another business  :o

Steve,

Should have mentioned that to me...

I need jumpers for my new 40's that will be showing up next week.

How much do they cost?

The jumpers are $150 a pair right now, same as my standard Geckos.  These are long ones, so the price has a chance of going up a bit, but probably not.

You don't have the "worlds best speakers" yet, how can you be done?

I actually heard some single-driver transmission-line designs at last January CES that were really amazing sounding, particularly the thin profile ones from Asia.  The were about 4 feet tall, with a single 4" driver and a square hole at the floor facing forward.  I cannot remember the company.

No, this was nothing fancy like these.  Just a single 4" cone driver and the baffles were about 5 or 6" wide and about 12" deep.

That was my thought exactly!!!  This guy went to CC and bought those drivers on sale in the car stereo dept, and then used a really nice simulated wood vinyl veneer.  Total cost to produce $49.95.

single-driver speakers...  hmmm...  so many speakers, so little time (and money!)   :)

actually, i am looking forward to finally being able to audition the zu monitors.  not technically a single full-range-driver speaker, but close, as the super-tweeter is crossed over at ~12khz...

but, perhaps a pair of super-optioned rm40's would put me outta the speaker market for a while, too...

If you look at the pictures on his web site, you will see in his "sound lab" in the back yard, a tripod with a RS spl meter in the grass. I had to look closely but, yes it is that spl meter.
