1968 Mustang Convertible.  Pony interior, 302 V8, 4 speed, buckskin top, bright red.  Loved that car.

two cars for me:
* 1969 four speed Hemi Roadrunner. A 12.8 car thru the mufflers in stock trim
* 1968 AMX. The car was #235, and had all the dealer installed performance options. A 13.5 car thru the mufflers

Lexus ES300 and Lexus RX-300.

Trouble-free and very quiet engine, allowing for an extremely comfortable driving experience!

Here is a picture of my baby (2004 Corvette Z06) on our last long (4700mi in 10 days) road trip together:

In Louisiana, next to the Mississippi river, getting close to the Gulf.

I miss this car every day.  Maybe I'll be able to get another Z06 someday.

Peace,

Lee

this is funny - i own one of these - '67 411, sss model, w/the dual carbies and 1600.  i haven't seen it in about 20 years; i left it at a shop in hamilton, va, when i moved to connecticut in 1988.  i wonder if it's still there!     when i lived in oregon inthe early 80's, i owned a stock '67 411, w/the 1300, and a '65 410 w/the 1300...

doug s.,

never got rid of a car i wish i still had...

1967 Datsun 411 bluebird. 4 sp., 1600cc, dual su carbs, 4 door sedan. Just a fun little car with decent pep. Had yellow high beams useful and trippy in the fog. Hey man, underdash 8 track, the speakers from the family garrard suitcase stereo in the rear window,  8) :D . When everyone ws into bugs it had more room, better seats, same gas mileage. Mine was maroon. A local guy has a wagon that he keeps up as a daily driver. I'd get another one for sure.

Brother has a 1965 Cornet that is absolutly mint inside and out. It's got a 477" six pack engine in it. Pretty fast in street trim (11.60's). But the killer is that he has all the pieces to make it into a 1965 Hemi Cornet (including the stainless steel K member). This car weighs in at 3500lb. right now, and with a hemi would probably be capable of brushing into the high tens or very low eleven second quarter mile times. If it was a four speed car it would be in the tens without anydoubt.

Believe it or not....
Back in the sixties my family owned a Ford dealership in So. Cal. A guy from the Shelby factory in Venice came around to see if we were interested in selling Cobras. We weren't but I talked him into a factory test drive (this was before the 427's - they were only building 289's - the ones that were actually driveable). I drove the car then withdrew what was essentially my life savings to date and bought one (factory wholesale). It was my only street car for two glorious years then I sold it when I went into the Navy. I wish I had the car OR the $ it was worth during it's glory collector years (upwards of $250K at one time). Sigh....

Not the '57 pink Coupe de Ville I gave to a friend to settle a debt, no sir, but my little Morris Minor coupe.  Talk about gettin the chicks!  I have to be kidding.  It was just so simple even I could work on it.  Ran all over the Sierra Nevadas back in the day in that little puppy haulin weed to clients.  Had a MM woody and a guy at an intersection offered me his coupe which became my coupe plus $500.  Good times.  Ya'll are making me cry.

I loved my 79 Rabbit, 4 speed, 1.5 Jetronic, regular gas, manual steering and brakes so it felt like a go kart, no converter, 40mpg. I put 250k on it with one clutch, while it rusted out from under me. Drove across the country twice, lived in it for 4 months in LA while I was "finding myself.." haha   Lots of first kisses in that little metal box, fun trips to beach with my wife to be, and a few near misses while practicing apexes. With original Fulda tires it could accelerate uphill in 8 inches of new snow and smash through snow banks with ease while 4x4s were sliding around. Bumpers were 1/8" thick rolled steel beam so it made a good battering ram. Oh yeah, it was valued at $200 (legal minimum), so excise tax was <$1. I don't wish I still had it, but I have some good memories. Running wide open on Masspike tunnel under Boston back bay, published top speed 101mph (NOT!) 0-60 10 seconds woohoo! Driving from Boston to NYC through blizzard to see Blakey. It was a survival machine, like an Abrams tank. and Made in USA!!  :thumb:

1979 Excalibur Roadster.........Only drawback......it is/was a rich man's toy........and I am not.

The other one that I missed out on........back in the day.........at Mid-Ohio Racetrack in Mansfield, Ohio.......The Carrol Shelby or Shelby America race crew........had a 1964 289 Cobra with a clipped front wing.......they let it go for $2,800......and they threw in a new wing.......I had just bought a 1952 MG TD MKll......if only I had known. I still mumble to
myself over that one.

As always, all the best.

Nice post.  I can feel this man.  What up, Rich?  "Practicing apexes", hadn't ever heard it put quite like that.
