The car I wish I still had!
« on: 6 Feb 2009, 02:11 am »
I had an old 69 Ford Mustang (fastback) once. I still wish I had it or could afford to get one JUST LIKE IT.

What car do you wish you still had? Or if not what "thing" did you let go and wish you had not!

I had an old Marantz Model 2030 receiver. Now I bought another and had it overhauled. Could not afford to get the stang back, but hey I got the Marantz back. It sounds great. I love it.

My first car, a '59 Opel wagon.  I cried when I took it to the junkyard.   This past summer I stumbled across the sedan version on a Texas back road.  Damn near knocked on the door and bought it.  Then I had a '67 Leman convertible, which I can still visit at my brother's house.

Without a doubt this is the car I wish I could get back:

I blame drug use as my excuse for the stupidity of letting it go.

My 1976 2.0 914 Porsche. Sold it for 2 grand, almost bought it back six years later for 5700, missed it by two days on the web!

Mine was a 1963 wagon.

And finally, this one would be nice also:

Yes, I had all three within three years of eachother.

In order, the Bug-Eye, the Saab and then the Volvo. In between the Bug-Eye and the Saab was a 1959 Opel Rekord that I don't miss much at all.

1967 Datsun 411 bluebird. 4 sp., 1600cc, dual su carbs, 4 door sedan. Just a fun little car with decent pep. Had yellow high beams useful and trippy in the fog. Hey man, underdash 8 track, the speakers from the family garrard suitcase stereo in the rear window,  8) :D . When everyone ws into bugs it had more room, better seats, same gas mileage. Mine was maroon. A local guy has a wagon that he keeps up as a daily driver. I'd get another one for sure.

Datsun 510 (Bluebird) was my pick as well - had a nice 4 door & a wagon also, still look at them on eBay all the time, but almost all of them have been modified in some Frankenstein manner. My wife thinks my fascination with them makes me clinically insane, she can't fathom it on any level.

Almost every time I show up on the job site my client says "I had one of those, wish I never sold it"

Always a big hit - the '77 Jeep Wagoneer. I bought this new in 1977 and is still the only vehicle I own. It's a beast, 360 V8, Quadratrack, low range gearbox, give it a hill and it will climb it. Getting 10 mpg on a good day I don't do many long trips these days but I have a great mechanic that keeps it running like new. 310,000 miles and counting.

These photos were taken when I lived in Colorado back in '78 right before I moved to Tucson. The Jeep is still 100% stock.

I'm driving, Jack has the beer.

Driving on a frozen lake was a blast.

My 1st car was a 1970 Triumph GT6 hardtop,,, basically a 6 cylinder, dual carb go-cart. A racecar with the foundation of a tincan, it handled like a dream and it was fun to drive with more power than car to handle it but you'd bend the frame from just hitting a pothole.

This was my 1st car, exact color.

I had a 91 Golf GL  I miss it too. Well, except for the transmission anyway.

I loved my 1964 VW Beetle.  I could do an engine rebuild on the side of the interstate, got 30+ MPG, fun to drive, cheap and easy to fix, would go anywhere in any conditions.

I sold it to pay my first semester tuition at WVU in 1974.
