AudiophileLiquidator.net ?
« on: 25 Jan 2009, 06:07 am »
Hi James,

I wanted to buy a pair of PowerPac 120 SST's from Audio Advisor, but they don't seem to carry them (?)

So then I found this AudiophileLiquidator.net website, which appears to carry two webpages of Bryston gear at very affordable prices.

Can you vouch for them, are they legit? :?:

Hi New Buyer,

No Audiophile Liquidators is one of the names of about 5 different online internet companies owned by the same group and they are NOT authorized Bryston dealers. This is a perfect example of what is killing our industry because dealers that have no long term interest or concern for the customer or the product pretend they can get product and sell it at prices which do not reflect what a legitimate company or business needs to keep the doors open.

Below is a list of dealers we know to be posing as authorized Bryston dealers (its posted on our website) and in fact are NOT.

UNAUTHORIZED BRYSTON DEALERS

All Home Theater
Dependable Audio Video
Digital Craze
Elegant Audio Video
High End Zone
Plasma Craze
Surround City
New York Wholesale Audio Video

Don't bother. They will také your money for 15 days, try to get your items and in the end cancel your order. Oh and if you want your money back sooner than 15 days then they will také 25 percent. What a joke!

I ordered some basic inceiling speakers from them and it was a big waste of time.

Cheers

NewBuyer,

You should be able to find a local authorized Bryston dealer from the Byrston website.  AFAIK Audio Advisor is the ONLY authorized internet dealer for Bryston equipment.  Did you try to contact Audio Advisor?  Maybe they can special order the PowerPac 120 SST's for you.

Best,

John

James,

how is it possible that unauthorized dealers can sell Bryston products at all ??? and for example 'Audiophile Liquidators' has a lot of Bryston stuff...
i mean how can they get such a huge amount of equipment? and where does it come from?????????????? :o

al.

p.s.: first impression of 'Audiophile Liquidators' is like they are a Bryston-Warehouse having everything in stock.
in general -as far as i know- a dealer doesn't 'store' Bryston products. the customer pays first then the order goes to Bryston and
then the unit will be build 'only' for this customer.

OP, do a quick google search, lots of info out there on this company.  Complaints range from holding onto your money and never shipping goods to shipping used/damaged goods.

Alexone, I have read many posts about these fly by night companies.  They create websites, take a bunch of money for expensive products being sold on the cheap, then disappear.  Many times if you do your due diligence you will find sites that have great deals, but don't have legitimate addresses or phone numbers, don't use SSL secured checkouts, and many other red flags.

Every once in a while a site will be legit, and the product they sell is real, just gray market goods.  On another forum there was a rash of companies selling higher end Polk speakers at ~1/3 - 1/2 off msrp.  They were all gray market with the serials removed.

Thanks James and everyone else too, for the heads-up about these online practices.

Another online retailer called IndependentAudioVideo.com shows two webpages of new Bryston inventory, and also claims to offer genuine factory-refurbished Bryston gear at significant price savings.  They state that full original factory warranties are included, and that they do in fact provide authorized dealer warranty service.
Is there any truth to this retailer's claims?  :?:

Hi Newbuyer,

NO TRUTH AT ALL.

The best way to find the authorized Bryston dealers is on our dealer search on our website:

I hope James doesn't mind me saying this, but if you want a great deal on Bryston, try a pro audio dealer. I did in fact get my 4B SST from a pro audio dealer.

Hi - correct - if they are not listed on our website then they are not an authorized Bryston dealer.

Thanks again for the advice and replies.

James, I would rather not do business with the sole dealer in my area, due to their dishonest behaviors in the past with myself and also separately with a family member.

Are there any other options for an interested buyer in such a position? :?:

Hi James,

I really appreciate your helpfulness and interest.  I will look for an alternative dealer using your website, and will also strongly consider PM'ing you with the details about my local dealer.  Thanks again!  :)

My experience with audiophileliquidators.net has been very positive.  I've ordered a number of items from them ranging from amps, multi-zone amps, controllers, and speakers.  Everything has been shipped in a timely fashion and has arrived in perfect condition.

I'm saving as much as 50% off of the vastly over priced, and price-fixed MSRP of many of the manufacturers who don't understand the free market.  audiophileliquidators does match the manufacturers warranty.  Even if this turns out to not be true, I'VE SAVED 50%.  On the off-chance I do have infant mortality on the product *and* they don't honor their warranty, I can just buy another one.

It's your money, if you want to spend more than you need to to get exactly the same product feel free.

Well sir with that attitude eventually there will not be any high quality high end manufactures around to get the 50% discount from.

James,

Well stated.

My local Bryston dealer provides reasonable discounts (especially to returning customers) on all gear (not just Bryston) that they sell.  Moreover, if someone really wants to save money on Bryston gear PURCHASE IT USED.  I brought a BP25 with MPS-1 power supply a years ago for $1200 and I still have 17 years remaining on the Bryston warranty.  Interestingly, one should note that audiophileliquidators.net discout on Bryston gear is ~20% NOT 50%!!  The amount of money that your saving IMO is not worth the risk!

Best,

John

Pretty sad 1st post dude/dudess,,,, looks like you got 50% off that too.  You show a total lack of class by coming into a company's forum and throwing bogus BS in their face with your 50% off crap. :nono:

Cheers,
Robin

Let me see, a company spends years designing and marketing a highly-respected product line to a niche market and the line continues to improve, and you say it is vastly overpriced.  The free market also drives values UP on classic equipment when a design turns out to be a great performer.  I guess you expect to pay scrap value for Dynaco Stereo 70 amps or Sequerra tuners.

Bad form, pal, very bad form.

Disclaimer:  I do not own, and couldn't afford, Bryston, but when their gear significantly advances the state of the art  I'd say it is not over priced.
