Soundstage Depth and Tabby on maracas ...
« on: 16 Jan 2009, 12:27 am »
I was deeply seated in the couch groove after two Dogfish Head 90's, listening to jazz CDs in the dark. Wayne Shorter's, "Adam's Apple" was spinning, track 2, "502 Blues". For the first time ever I noticed some maracas deep in the soundstage, far right of the speaker. At first I thought, "Wow! My system rocks!" And, "Cool!", as their playing was not structured at all. Rather haphazard, but still musically acceptable. Not a bad idea, I thought. Kinda groovy.

However, when the track ended the maracas kept playing. WTF!? Turns out the kitten was in the next room playing with one of those large plastic hollow donuts with a ball inside which has a few beads in to rattle as she pawed at it. :duh: Though all alone I felt like an IDIOT!
