Now, if I understand you correctly and if I really wanted to be a mad man and I also didn't want to spring for a second DX-0 I could conceivably, and perhaps more usefully with the RM40, cross over the lowest frequency drivers of the RM40 with a MONO channel and if that crossover was 80 hz or lower then it could conceivably make sense.

thanks for your time!

If I understand you correctly;  The Woofers on the RM40 cross at 280hz, so they shouldn't/couldn't be run in mono.

The only way to power the Woofers separately is to use the PBS I mentioned, that is modded (by Brian) to cover those frequencies.  Or rig up a crossover/amp that does the same thing.

I need to "MODIFY" the above.

The SDE D-OXO "CAN" be set up in a "TRI-AMP" mode, (three stereo pairs of channels)so you could use the same, or different amps to power the Treble, the MR Panels and the woofers.

It WOULD NOT take two units, only one.

So you "could" use all your amps. :thumb:

Hey Simon,

You mentioned you saw Phil in Richmond, was that Richmond VA?

If so, I live in the west end of Richmond VA and currently have older/original version of the RM40's and hopefully will be receiving my new 626R's w/FST & Mega Woofer soon .  If interested, you could audition my setup to get an idea of the difference in sound between the 40 and 626.

Rob

If interested, PM me.

Yep, but that was in 1984.

:)

Phil always seemed to find the resonance in the Coliseum and play with it to his heart's delight. A memorable experience that 10-6-84 show, I have never heard bass like that. 100 ton bags of dirt being shifted around.

something tells me your RM40's could reproduce that.  I live up in the Frederick area and don't get to Richmond all that often but I appreciate your offer.

I was also in the front row for him this fall at the Charlottesville Pavillion. That is a very nice place to see a concert. I don't understand the current mania for the reformed "Dead". I went to buy tickets yesterday and all they had at 10:10 were section 401, no thanks!

Sounds like from all that I have read that the RM30 with my pair of smaller VMPS subs is going to be the way to go, digital crossover, AVA u70 for the mids and tweeters and I am in the process of picking up a 200 watt Mac solid state amp, don't know the model number but it has the big ole blue meters on the front. I am hoping to be able to hit some levels that will make those babies jump around a little bit.
