Just got back from seeing this. WOW... I will be shocked if this film doesn't at least get nominated for Best Picture and would not be surprised if it wins. One of the best movies I've seen in years...

This Oscar season is IMO exceptional, multiple excellent pictures (in my book) - Slumdog; Benjamin Button; Gran Torino; Doubt, and of course, the Wrestler. These are the pictures which made (sort of) lasting impressions on me.

A great movie! We saw this last month, and were struck by the energy in this movie...The soundtrack is awesome too! Especially "paper planes" by MIA.

I'm hardly a wrestling fan (can't see punching up someone as being sporty), but the focus of the movie is largely on Mickey Rourke (should get an Oscar nod). But... the movie is even more than his acting talent. The 2 women in there are excellent also. I'm not surprised if they both get nominations for best supporting actress. Well... everybody ticks differently. I was surprised I liked the movie also. But, it's really a movie with a heart, about a washed-up wrestler's struggle to redeem himself.

Do not forget to add Milk to the list of deserving Oscar nods. Sean Penn deserves Best Actor for this and the supporting cast was amazing as well.

Too bad he insists on having a "supporting cast" of sluts in his hotel room when his (beautiful and amazing) wife isn't around! Great actor, lousy human being. (IMHO)

The critics love it. I saw two different shows of top 10 lists (two reviewers per show) and it was on every list and the best show of the year on two of the lists. Also, Rotten Tomatoes lists it with a shockingly high 98% approval rating:

(But then RT also listed a high value for the last Indiana Jones movie, which I hated).

The most recent Indiana Jones movie was weak in all sorts of ways. Too bad. I guess it's too much to expect them to hire a good writer.

Saw it on Christmas night instead of any of the big hollywood films. My wife and I both really loved it! The climax isn't earthshattering but the story telling was well paced, exciting and funny. Freida Pinto is stunning!

Listening to the soundtrack right now. Very very good. When watching the movie you it really helps to add to the energy and the pace. On its own its fun, upbeat and totally accessible. This is a totally electronic soundtrack with really solid bass hits and some nice basslines. The indian chants and instrument samples really work well with the beats and basslines. Very well produced. The awards were well deserved. I just hope there is no backlash as the hype machine starts to buildup towards the oscars.

Slumdog Millionare is by far the best film I've seen in quite a while. The shit scene is a little over the top, but not entirely implausible given the context. I'd be very disappointed if this doesn't get best picture.

I'm usually a "wait for the DVD" guy. But my lovely wife convinced me to go to four movies in the theater this last month. Slumdog Millionaire is an absolutely superb movie. The story, the acting, it's just great!

Her and our good friend (pre-school teacher) couldn't stomach the reality of the child poverty over their.
I tried to get them to finish it knowing it would be worth it...

Thats one thing i noticed, the soundtrack to slumdog millionare is Awesome!!!

I agree that the first half is a little hard to stomach especially if you haven't been exposed to that levels of poverty. Later on it gets a lot easier on the senses. I entered the theater with all sorts of preconceived notions about this movie, but was glad to see that danny boyle had made a winner
