Okay, hold the names for the moment. Let's just say that there is a good chance I can go with the original name (the one that was most popular) but some things are pending. Just hold on. If this works then this will solve the name issue.

Hehe, That's what my Marine commanders used to tell us when we asked when we were going home from Saudi Arabia.  They told us that continuously for over 6 weeks.

As a Theology major, and a Greek student for 10 semester hours the Logos name is not a name for God, it is a reference to the essence of ones being, as expressed by ones spoken word.  The concept was linked was a philosophical and was an expression to describe scripture and how Jesus was the living "word of God" and an living example or translation of the written "word of God."

It has no actual religious meaning or connection to God, but it is more like how we remember historic figures by their speeches.  Martin Luther King Jr. expressed his essence with his I have a dream speech, it captures who he was.  As one speaks, they are sharing their soul.

Music is a similar expression, it captures the very heart of the author, musician, and often the listener.  The Logos would express that spark and intimate relationship that is shared between composer, performer and listener.  All part of a very unique connection, that draws us all in to the hobby.  It is not about steal and wires and electricity, it is all about how people are moved by music.

But it sounds like you have a clear favorite.

Here is what happened, and maybe you guys can help me by giving me further input.

I liked the Venue name. I also liked the Apollo name.

I had two different people do a trademark search on those two and nothing came up that would cause any issue with either of them. One of the guys that did the search used to be a US patent attorney.

So I filed on both of those names.

Then after filing there was a protest on the Venue name from the attorneys of Harmon International. While they did not come up on any trademark searches for that name before, they do now.

So that one is out.

The Apollo name looks like it will go through. I was just given a release for the only company that could have had issue with it.

While I will own the Apollo name as pertaining to loudspeakers, I am not sure if I want to use it with this speaker.

Several spin offs of the Venue name were suggested.

One is Vinda. This basically means Venue in Portuguese.

Another is Verite. It, like Venue, is a French word. The Pronunciation is [vey-ree-tey] The definition is:

1. truth; truthfulness.
2. cin?ma v?rit?.

Another is Vinite. Pronouned [vi-nahy-tee, ve-nee-tey] The definition is:

1. the 95th Psalm (94th in the Vulgate and Douay), used as a canticle at matins or morning prayers.
2. a musical setting of this psalm.

I even thought of the Venuette (another spin off). It's kind of feminine though.

Any thoughts on that stuff?

Does the ownership of the name also pertain to variations?

Apollo - I thought you ruled out everything from Greek mythology?

Don't really like the other names, but that is just me.

I will check into that.

Yeah, I am not into the Greek mythology thing, but I think that name has moved beyond that a little bit. Most people associate it more with NASA now. It was also used in the Bible in the book of Acts and in 1 Corinthians before it was used in Greek methology.

Are you trying to name a speaker, or create a new speaker brand (or should I say, a new speaker line)?

I think Verite is a great brand name for your co-axial, open-baffle speakers w/ integrated open-baffle, servo-subs.

If you choose to really focus on this line of speakers, you may have several offerings in this line:

 - Verite Grand (P-Audio BM12-CXA, 12" Servo Subs)
 - Verite Moyen (P-Audio BM8 CXA, 8" Servo Subs)
 - Verite Petit (P-Audio BM8 CXA, no subs - Stand Mount)

IMHO, Apollo is a throwaway name, and (again IMHO) doesn't give this speaker the dignity it deserves **.

** I have not heard this speaker, but am intrigued by the looks and the design.

In Italian it would be Sede, in case you wanted another twist.
