The GR Research Accelerandos. They are very quick speakers.

How about the Nebulas?

After all, they bear a pretty striking resemblance to these:  http://www.linkwitzlab.com/images/photos/Chapin-30.jpg

Am 50/50 on Venue and Rendition (though I think I like the latter better in the context)

Rendition..
Please don't-it just makes me think of political pawns being moved around surrepticiously/illegally, there couldn't be a name much worse for negative associations.

How about Danny call it "The speaker potentially named 'Venue' but not officially named that because of possible trademark issues, reference to an inferior speaker, and potential lack of sale to AudioCircle user Randy due to name issues (pending resolution in therapy)"?

The name that just (barely) did not make the list was "Control-Alt-X, <F4>, <esc>". Maybe I'm crazy, but that just doesn't roll off the tongue like some of the other suggestions.

Now we know one reason why model numbers are popular. "Speaker 8", anyone?

I understand that this strategy works quite well in other markets as well.  Chanel apparently has had some success with No. 5.  Maybe "No. 4" would be good...that's one better than the highly successful No. 5, but modest enough not to claim position 1, 2 or 3.

Of course, nobody would want speakers that were called "The Number Twos"...

When the 'right' title arrives it will be completely obvious in retrospect. Not the easiest task though..

I spent a few hours listening to the test box at Danny's, in his original post he said it has some of the best traits of a variety of different speaker types, I agree.

When I look that those floorstanders I think GR Research Rendition so I guess I'll flow against the grain with my pick. Venue just doesn't relate to loudspeaker for me, sounds more like a street in France.

Now that it has been established that JBL has a trademark on the name Venue, are we down to just three options or is there still some time for more brainstorming?

How about the "Bail Out." Maybe you'll be bailing out of your current speakers, kinda like Art will be soon. Seems timely, or, was that time-aligned?

Happy New Year, Gang!

Now that it has been established that JBL has a trademark on the name Venue, are we down to just three options or is there still some time for more brainstorming?

Take a look at Danny's opening post in this thread:

Okay, here are the favorites that pasted the trademark conflict considerations.

Of these four, which do you guys like. Cast your vote.

1) the Venue:

The scene or locale of any action or event.

2) the Vanquish:

   1. to conquer or subdue by superior force, as in battle.
   2. to defeat in any contest or conflict; be victorious over: to vanquish one's opponent in an argument.
   3. to overcome or overpower: He vanquished all his fears.

3) the OBsession: The capital O and B tend to play on the open baffle aspect.

   1. the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc.
   2. the idea, image, desire, feeling, etc., itself.
   3. the state of being obsessed.
4. the act of obsessing.

4) the Rendition:

1. the act of rendering.
2. a translation.
3. an interpretation, as of a role or a piece of music.

He has apparently done some type of trademark search and deemed all four of the names listed clear of trademark issues.
