TRANCE

The condition of being so lost in solitary thought as to be unaware of one's surroundings.

They remind me of Tyto - very majestic and sophisticated.
Good luck naming those beauties.

Feel like I'm just adding negative input, but there are Mojo Guitar Amp speakers.
http://www.mojosonic.com/id7.html

Along similar lines of charms & superstition & blues would be stuff like:

Hoodoo
John the Conqueror Root (generally sounds like John-de-cockeroo in a blues song)
Charm
Talisman
Juju
Amulet
Seventh Son
Black Cat Moan
Black Cat Bone
Omen
Throwing or Casting Bones ("Throwing them bones" in Chuck Berry's "Let It Rock" probably referring to dice, but also evoking the occult)
Tarot

Or you could go for the NRBQ - "Howard Johnson's got his HoJo working" alternative.

I don't know why, but the more I look at the plans and see the finished product, the more "tank" like names pop into my head.  It just has such a wonderfully solid look, and with the box-like angles I just get this potential heavy-duty industrial vibe.  Just my two cents.

When I built mine I had to Square off the rounded portions that were shown on the original
plans.....no access to a cnc machine. I probably could of built the rounds, but my wood working skills are novice and I new I could get the angles looking OK so thats the route I went.

There hasnt...to my knowledge..been any pics of a finished box...as plans...posted yet.
One of the other builders...not a forum member, or poster anyway..has sent me some pics
of his finished OBs. He changed the back to extend so he could place the servo amp in
and keep it incorporated with the speaker.  These look really nice!!!

I had asked him to post a few pics but I guess he is not in to that.
I will respect his wishes and not post his pics either....

I just wanted to say they look REALLY REALLY SWEET
I can hardly wait to see some others.

Allegro - lively & fast
Mosso - musical term for a more lively or quicker change in tempo
Cabaret - a form of entertainment featuring comedy, song, dance, and theatre
Cadenza - a long, unaccompanied, freely played, and sometimes improvised solo passage in a concerto
Verismo - Italian word meaning realism that is used to describe an Italian style of opera

Verismo is my favorite.

The 42nd Streets.  Hell, I can't think of anything.  What am I doing here?  It's just that there has to be somethin better than the Venue's or Rendition, please.  Sorry.  I looked up the names of telescopes (just got back from the Davis Mountians i.e. McDonald Observatory), that's a no go.  Greek words are too pretentious.  The Peyote's.  No, no, now I'm trippin (and kidding).  God's Anvil (still trippin).  The Danny Boys.  Y'all keep it up.  I'll humor you from time to time.  Heck, maybe I'll even think of sumthin useful.

Rhymes with machismo.  Ok, ok, I'm outta here.  Not enough people know what it means, Danny.

Man, it is really tough to find a name that isn't trade marked for something related.

After doing searches on the latest suggestions the only ones that I liked that were not taken (Mojo was not available) are:

1) Vader (I think this one might be better for a larger and more ominous speaker though ).

and

2) Verismo ( Favoring it....)

Thoughts?

Verismo is good.

Although I think it's kind of funny how as Americans we tend to look to other languages for a name or descriptor in order to either lend some sense of credibility or to make it sound fancy.  It's as if our own language is too boring or mundane to even consider.

I don't think it's ever considered how people who actually speak and know the other languages feel about this kind of naming.  Sort of like seeing a foreign made speaker being called "Awesome" or "Cool" or something to that effect.

Anyway, yeah, Verismo is nice.

Man, it is really tough to find a name that isn't trade marked for something related.

Hence many manufacturers go with numbers instead of names.

With the announcement of the smaller version of this speakers, you could go with a series nomenclature.

How about "Integrity One"?

Best,

Sorry I haven't gone through the whole thread in a while.

I like playing with the whole OB term.

Obit(s)- the date of one's death. You'll remember the day that all other speakers were laid to rest.

Obolus-a modern Greek unit of weight equal to 0.1 gram.

The Venue would have been perfect

Perhaps you just name it a symbol? Or an emoticon?

You could call it "  :icon_twisted: " or "  :o ".
