Franklin Mint vinyl recordings
« on: 21 Dec 2008, 02:43 am »
All:  I have a chance to buy severals boxed sets of (supposedly) mint Franklin Mint classical recordings, including some Reiners, for about $50.

Are these pressings worth having?

Thanks,

Bob

I have not heard any of the classical recordings on the Franklin Mint series but have heard many of their excellent Jazz collections and the transfers and fidelity were superb on recordings from the 20's,30's and 40's.My 2 cents - i buy STEREO music on LP and pre stereo music on cd.That being said i am still holding on to about 10 feet of early Jazz,Blues and other pre stereo on vinyl.Considering what i have seen Classical Franklin Mint recordings sell for i think the price you quote sounds like 50% too high.Hope this helps!

Thank very much.  I understand this set may have 8-10 boxed sets, so quite a few discs.  His ad went away but his most recent response (late this afternoon says he still has them.  We are to talk tomorrow.
