Yup that is the guy!!

Meticulous like you would expect someone who worked on Porsches.

No shit Bill!  Why didn't I know you then, would have loved to take a ride in that.   :icon_lol:

It was a great car.

This is no kidding:

It would get out accelerated off the line by a Camry but would be at 85 out of 3rd and leave a lot in the dust.

It would do 138mph hands free on the interstate.

It could take on/off ramps at nearly 80 with barely a squeal from the tires and out handled corvettes doing so.

Its key was the nearly perfect 50/50 f-r weight balance by having the transaxle in the back. With only 147hp it was a bit of a dog in a drag-race but freaking scooted from 3rd-5th gear.

Those damn German's can design a sport coupe!

I had a friend that restored a 1961 Porsche 356 'bathtub'.  Beautiful little sports car, really gave that old world driver/road handling experience.  My dad is a British sport's car enthusiast, he has a 1964 MG Midget.  I have to tell you that I have spent many fun days hitting the twisties of N. Georgia mountain roads in that little car.  Really a very spirited little ride.

Man I would love to own a Porsche someday.  The newer 911 Coupe (in any form) would certainly be high on my list of dream cars.

Very , very sweet Paul!! What a beaut!! Love the color. Looks like it gets a fair amount of attention...

The Ingram collection did not have any 914's on display, not even a 6 cylinder. Maybe they have one that was not on display.

Thanks, Rich. My fourth 914, haven't had one for years, first one was in college eons ago.
It's got only 24K miles on it, original paint, it is my pride and joy. At 76 hp, it can't get out of its own way, but who cares? It's pure handling fun.

I have had 17 Porsches primarily during the 1970's and early 1980's.  An odd assortment of 911's, 356's and one 904.  The rarest was a notch-back Karmin 356.  I had a 924 and a 928 which I considered heresy because of their engines and placement.  I raced a little in IMSA and SCCA but was not very effctive--just too expensive for a college professor.  I have been considering a Beck 550 replaca with a 130hp VW engine; anyone have any experience with one??

again we share mutual good taste in cars  :thumb:  Classic!

The first car I ever drove was a Porsche.  ...well, at least I steered it.  At 6 or 7 years old sitting on my dad's lap steering a green 356 coupe ('63 or '64) on a deserted road   8)  I'll never forget that day, or that car.

Maintenance is part of owning a Porsche...at least the older ones.  If you don't like working on cars stay away from them.  I enjoyed tinkering with them as much as driving them.  Buy the Porsche shop manual and go to it.  I started by paying a Porsche mechanic the flat rate job price to supervise me while I worked on my first 911 ( a 1970 Targa ) in his shop.  He thought it was funny but went along with me.  After a couple of times it was pretty simple and a lot of FUN!!!

My first effort was adjusting the six Weber carbs; well, after I finisned I limped it in to a different mechanic ( stricit German trained at the factory ).  As soon as I pulled in he started screaming "shut it off, shut it off".  He then harshly asked what I did for a living?  I replied that I was a college professor to which he responded " you teach de school and I vill fix de car!!!  After that I went to the other mechanic.
