These: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=59639.0  I've only managed to carry two of them from my shop all the way up to my loft, 24 steps in my staircase, they must weigh close to 100lbs with the drivers installed.  Time to have a cocktail and annoy my tenants:D  Tomorrow I will have enough energy to bring two more up and see what 4 of these things will do.  Rob if you are listening, you are helping me carry these damn thing back down

Btw...I've held off on purchasing a driver and amp for myself, I wanted to hear Rob's before I took the plunge... :o :o :o...I'm in.

Read this 12 page thread...on page 9 there are pictures of the amp.  It has a built in parametric equalizer.

How much? I have a Velodyne HGS-12 which is servo but accelerometer based I believe. Will this blow that away? Im looking for bottom end detail, which I feel I am missing. Plus slam of course. I was looking at the JL Sub but thats a whole lotta cash hurt.

From the link to the thread that Christof put in his first post here, on page 2:

I doubt if this is still available, but if so, or if one were to commision 1 or 2, how much would a finished one be?
Thanks

Yes, the burled Walnut sub is still available.  As Rob said, it's walnut and B.E. Maple and will be rubbed to a very high gloss level.  The driver cutout has been made and it's ready to accept one of Danny's 12" drivers.  Rob and I had the Aluminum spikes custom made for us by a very talented craftsman, they were not cheap but they do the job and get the driver 3" off the ground as specified by Danny for down firing configuration.  This will be the last (10 of 10) "Dymax" cabinet that I make.  I am happy with them in terms of quality/build but I simply cannot build them fast enough to make it worth my while, with my gallery opening in the spring it's time to focus on sculpture.  So that's it, I would like to get $1750 obo. for this last enclosure.  This does not include driver or amp, just the enclosure and spike feet.

Sorry, Rob, you are a great guy but I can't do the ol' buy 4 get one free one trick with these

All gone... :( So it would come out to about the same as a JL sub with the amp and driver...
Looks like a lots of control on the plate amp.

Had to take the wind out of my sails huh  :duh:

How much better are 6 of the 16's in free air (3 per side) over 4 of the 8's in sealed boxes (2 per side)?

Might be able to arrange just such a thing, perhaps in ebony, about 7' tall, with automotive poly finish... do you have room?

I think we're waiting on you big guy!   :thumb:

Let me look....yep, I've got the room....

When it's this far over the top it's all good, right?

I must admit I've become pretty hooked on OB bass myself, so I'd sure love to hear 6 of those.

Just thought I would chime in that I just picked up a pair of Brian's pre-built sealed box subs using Danny's drivers.  I've had one for about two weeks now, and had the other one starting to burn in over the weekend.  Tight bass, very very fast, articulate in the upper end of the frequency range, and they really play down low (and musically at that - no single note low bass!).  I'm not sure yet if I'm much of an OB kind of guy, but the one of these in a small-medium sized room is a great addition to my music, and adding the second started to give my movies that "effortless" feeling that I was introduced to by the MFW-15 from av123.

Thanks, Danny, for helping put together a very versatile sub that fit my space better than many of the recently popular 15" driver box designs. :)
