Odyssey Mono SE Question
« on: 30 Nov 2008, 03:40 pm »
Mono SE Owners:

I am interested to know if you leave your Monos powered on 24/7?  Also have you been successful with any type of power conditioning ahead of them?

Thanks,

Ken

Mine are always on and straight into dedicated outlets.  Tried it with the RSA Haley and couldn't really tell a difference.  YMMV

you should always leave your monos powered up. Otherwise the caps will drain, and then it takes a few days to get them 100% charged

Hi Ken,

Mine are on 24/7 and plugged into an RSA JACO supplied by a dedicated 20-amp line.

I was leaving my Mono Extremes on 24/7 because Klaus said it was best.

Then I worried that I am wasting electricity, so I stopped doing it.  I thought, "maybe I will be able to tolerate the decreased performance, and save a little money."

But since I stopped, I've never noticed a difference.  None.  And, I am one picky audiophile mofo.

I would be interested if anybody else has tried this and noticed any change.

Disclaimer:  I listen to my stereo every 3 or 4 days.  Maybe the caps don't have time to power down in this timeframe.  When I have left the Extremes off for extended periods (more than 2 weeks), I have indeed noticed a decrease in performance when they are first turned back on.

Best of luck,
Hukk

Wow...That's my main gripe. If I leave them on for around a month, all of the sudden it's incredible. Turn them off, and whoa!, not the same amps at all. Are all amps like this? Even a digital amp like the Spectron... people are saying they should stay on all the time.
