I have had problems trying to sell an AVA preamp. I have used the usual channels without success. In the past I have sold a NYAL Super-It phono preamp in a week, a Musical Fidelity headphone amp in one month, Triangle Titus speakers in three weeks, Cambridge Audio CD player in three days, Quad ESL 57 and Quad II amps almost immediately. Why is this particular product meeting resistance? Poor timing? Non name brand recognition? Any answers or recommendations out there?

How are you trying to sell?
Local, A-gon, Ebay etc.

I've had absoltely no problem selling my AVA stuff thru Ebay either Fixed price or Auction style.

I have had an ad (AVA T5) in Trading Post since late November. It has 153 hits but no replies. I noticed that there are other AVA products (as well as others of course) that are in limbo. I don't want to leave the ad in too long and see it buried on page 37; you know what happens when a real estate listing hangs in too long. It's also listed - and has been listed - on other sites on and off for two years.
What to do?

Tough to say.  Whenever I've seen reasonably priced AvaHiFi gear, it seems to move pretty quick.  So either your price is set too high, or your venue just isn't getitng the traffic.  The T5 is an older design, but still a damn fine pre-amp.  I'd call Frank (as he's got a brokerage service).  He'll even probably suggest a fair price for it on the open market.  Audiogon seems to be the venue of choice for higher-end gear.

In this particular case, I didn't find the ad to be very attractive, but maybe that's just me.

I would never buy any equipment that has "midrange bloom," but here's how I'd rewrite it anyway.

"Mint Transcendance 5 tube preamp with phono section for sale. Upgraded to latest revision a few years ago;  includes the desirable gold contact switches and regulated high voltage power supplies. Has excellent dynamics, with the midrange bloom which in my opinion gives music a more realistic presentation. This preamp is an excellent value at $650 and is superior to many higher-priced units on the market, used or new. Feel free to contact me for more information and pictures."

Hmmm... I'd probably write the whole thing differently, but using Bill's ad as a base this is what I come up with. I think it's a bit more positive.
