I use JBL Studio L890s...it's great combo, imo.

I'd say the 4BSST can drive all of those speakers you mentioned.

Tanks for your answer vegasdave.
I found the JBL´s sound (in my personal taste) too bright. IMHO.

You're welcome. No problem. Which JBL models have you heard?

I don't remember wich models I´d heard. It was in 2003 (5 years ago). But... I heard Northridge line (I did not like them). About the Studio Line  I´d  heard bookshelf (Studio 80 or something I don't remember) Good speaker but too bright to me.

Yeah, the Nothridge line wasn't too good.

Ok, fair enough. The Studio L Series is bright at first, but it mellows considerably after break in. One of the best bangs for the buck when it comes to speakers out there. I preferred them to a speaker costing $2000 a pair. I got the JBLs for $833 inc. shipping from buy.com!

There are better speakers of course, but unfortunately I can't afford them.

Don't overlook the Bristish speakers. Its amazing how well the Bryston B100 synergised with the Harbeth SHL5s. The neutrality of the Harbeths with the tradition of BBC monitor speakers, will bring out the very best of music, absolutely no fatigue!

I agree with denjo - I heard a pair of Harbeths the other night at a reviewers home with a 14B SST and it was excellent.

Thanks for your answer.
I like very much british speaker´s  sound.  In fact, I´ve a pair of B&W 603 S3. But, Harbeth, PMC , Maggies, and many others brands have not distribution :( in my country (Argentina).

Hi everyone!!

What of the following speakers match perfect (or very very well) using a 4B SST ?

1) Monitor Audio (Gold Signature Series) GS 20  or  GS 60
2) Energy Veritas 2.3 i
3) B&W 603 S3
4) B&W 703 or 705
5) Focal 800 Series.
6) Paradigm Reference Signature

Or.... :duh:...what speakers recommend me (in the same price range) for that lovely amp ??

Thanks.

hi,Tosko!

what price range are these speakers you mentioned?
i assume that you are using the pre outs from your Marantz receiver, correct?
if so then don't forget the necessity of a matching preamp. another ac member just wrote that he bought a used BP20 to drive his Bryston amp and it really blew him away!

good luck and happy listening! :thumb:

al.

Hi, alexone. Thanks for your interesting !!
The price range for those spekears (in my country) is: US Dollars 2,500 to 5,000 (MA GS 60)
Marantz pre outs: It was the originally idea, but.....I heard with a used 4B ST (not SST) and did not like at all.
Recently, I purchased a hand-made argentinian (Solid State) pre amp that sounds really very very good (fast, smooth, warm, etc.) I think it will match perfectly with 4B SST.

hi, Tosko!

...a handmade preamp. sounds good. the most important thing is that you are satisfied with the results. and it doesn't has to be always a Bryston preamp to drive a Bryston amp. there are a lot of nice manufacturers out there...
so what ever you do- trust your ears!

Another British option in your price range would be the ProAc Studio 140

ProAc? I was never impressed with those. They sound dull and uninvolving to me.

Thanks FM Acoustics.
I´m a client of Hi Track. But, that Pro Ac is out of my budget. The prices in Buenos Aires are at least twice more than US prices.

That's another thing. They don't do well with all kinds of music.

Hi Al,

Just meant that there really seems to be very strong opinions out there on the differences and characteristics of different speakers.
