I don't see it as greed. More like helping to get this back onto the front burner.

OK, so would you like me to send you one?  I will do so, if you give the word...and I promise to write about it....How's that for a bribe?

Another day.........another trip to the neurosurgeon w/"CSB".

Good news is that this one agrees with the last one.

Bad news is that this one agrees with the last one.

Don't ask me to explain, but the bottom line is that her problem will not be resolved any time soon. Which means lots of trips back to the doctors.

And lots of "I can't help it..........I have a brain tumor" jokes are in store. (It is benign, so don't freak out over gallows humor.) Now, if we could just figure out why she can't seem to understand how the "big tape" dispenser works.................

OK, back to bidnis.........sure send it. Give me a few days to make sure that I will have room on one of my benches. And the parts, forgot about that.

She is seeing one of the vice-chairman at UTSW. I think she will be ok. Thanks for your concern and kind offer. I will pass it on to her. I know that she will be grateful.

You are in good hands, then.  When my wife had surgery, we were fortunate enough to get two of the leading professors to perform the surgery.  Good medical care at UTSW.

Had an interesting and friendly chat with Ajay yesterday. Although he failed to change my mind about coconut chutney.

I think is time to call Ravi, and see if he wants to buy lunch!

Ok, for those of you who were following this, but forgot that I lost all of our PCB files last summer.............

Slowly been re-creating everything. From scratch. I have come up with an idea that may not only move this forward, but may be able to fit into the SB3 as well. No promises, but it looks like it is possible.

There is the possibility that to fit it into the SB3 that the headphone jack may have to go. But, for right now, I plan to leave it intact.

I will probably wait until after the first to order up some PBCs, to see if it will work. What's another few weeks at this point?

Tell that to the guy who called me last week to see if I had any guess as to why the bass was weak.

(I thought it was the caps, but they are large enough. But it got me to thinkin'.)

Why don't you ask that question in the Headphone Circle Bob if you are really that interested. Might have more bites there.  :D

I'm interested in mods to SB type things, but not the least bit interested in headphones. Never heard of, much less thought of, using headphones straight out of a SB.

Me neither but I thought I'd offer up the suggestion fwiw. Heck I'm not even interested in any type of Logitech product but I sure do love tweaks/mods.

I agree with you Bob - those who are interested in SB mods would likely be willing to part with the headphone jack!  ;)

I too am watching with interest.  Good luck Pat - I hope your mod ideas will work out for us SB owners.  :D

Pat, I know this is going to be asking a lot, but with the new Touch being released, having native support for higher bit rates, would you consider doing something like this for the Touch?

As long as I have trying to get this in a finished form............you want to gum up the works with something that is back-ordered to infinity..............?

I'll settle for the SB3/ Duet combo. Besides, the mod only does 44 kHz. Will only do 44 kHz. Not interested in hi-res stuff.

Truth be told, the Duet has more room inside, and the architecture makes it more conducive to futzing. But I hate that remote. The SB3 is easier to get working, can connect to the computer with just a crossover cable. Having to do a "factory reset" every time I work on one gets to be a pain. Especially with dozens of wireless networks in our area.

The prospect of getting another unit in-house that use that remote........nope, doesn't excite me.
