No, no word yet.  I check the mailbox everyday though.

The new amp is sounding great and the Isabellina has a lot more hours on it now, and some NOS rectifiers and a pair of Chimera labs ICs and SCs also arrived today, so believe me, I'm itching to see how things with a new transport.

No updates yet.  Still waiting for a puck.  As soon as I get it, it will be a matter of minutes before I can try it out.  I put the transport on the rack and when the part arrives, I just have to move the AC cable and the digital cable from the Oppo to the Vanguard and drop a disc in.

Our mail arrives very late in the day, so there's still time for it to show up today.

you would think that since they were the ones who left it out, they would ship the puck to you air mail.

Please tell me you got your transport up and running. I've been thinking of getting one but I concerned about customer support.

You can direct all your questions about support to me since I am actively monitoring this thread.

We have looked and look and we cannot find the puck.  So where it exactly is, is anyone's guess. That being said, in the mean time, we have updated the player with a new clock and puck.  So it was a perfect storm:  a lost puck, an update in the works, production delays with the update, new pucks as part of the update etc.

We do not know yet how we will be offering the upgrade or what the price will be.

We know that they have left our China depot and should be here soon.

New units will then have the upgraded clock?  Will the price still be the same?
Thanks.

We do not know how it will be offered. It will not be the same price since the upgrade costs us more but, we are trying hard to keep the price down.  We should know next week.

Your in the fray now, Vic.
And by the way, welcome to Audio Circle. Always good to have company reps on hand to answer questions.
What type of benefits will this upgraded clock offer? Is it a different part or some changed out supporting components?

Vic,

So, even though I've stated several times in this thread that I'm just waiting for the puck, and now it appears that there is, nor will there be, any such puck, what am I waiting for?

It feels like it's been a really long time since I placed my order and paid for this piece of gear.

I'm seriously hoping that one of these new units is just going to show up at my door, and soon, and then I'll send the old one back (at PVE's expense.)

Don't know what else to say right now except that a little first party communication would have gone a long way here.

Jim:
Of course you will get a puck.  Did you have some communications with someone from our company that would let you think otherwise?

Vic,

Sorry, I interpreted this:

We have looked and look and we cannot find the puck.  So where it exactly is, is
anyone's guess. That being said, in the mean time, we have updated the player with
a new clock and puck...

To mean that there would be no pucks for the existing transport and that you'll have to get a new one to get a new puck.  I was concerned about this as each transport seems to do something very different regarding the puck -- audio note, audio aero, etc. all have radically different puck designs which seem tied to the specific transports and/or the designer's preferences.

I've obviously not seen the Vanguard one, but I had an Audio Aero, and I've seen the high-end ANs, and they are very different and don't even seem interchangeable.

If the new puck will fit my existing transport, that would be great; if the upgraded clock can be easily replaced, that would be even better -- the less stuff I have to ship, the better, and I'm sure you can understand that.

I apologize, I'm just really wanting to hear this transport.

Thanks,

Jim

Update: I got a tracking number for the replacement puck.  It's in transit and will be here Monday.

Will let you all know what I find out.

The update you've all been waiting for...

I got the puck today and it took me all of 2 minutes to get the Oppo out of there and the Vanguard connected.  Pacific Valve actually got it here yesterday as promised, but my UPS guy screwed up and didn't ring the doorbell so I missed the delivery.

So?

Well, pretty damned good, I'd say.  Tons more bass -- deeper and better controlled, same with the high end, and the PRAT is out of this world compared to the stock Oppo.  This is with only an hour or so on it, but so far it seems like a really worthwhile purchase.

I've got it sitting on three HRS Nimbuses right now, but am also going to try Herbie's regular and tall tenderfeet -- which are currently under the DAC and amp respectively.

The remote is solid and the controls all have a very positive feel to them, and the pause/stop action is very quick, as is track forward and back.

I'm going to let it cook overnight with the Isotek system enhancer disc and see what happens.

I'm guessing that the new puck is slightly different from the one I have as the web page now describes a 1 PPM clock and a ball bearing puck -- the one I have is not a ball bearing type.  BTW, it looks like no other manufacturer's pucks that I'm familiar with.

hello jim. when does the transport read the cd, when you slide the door shut or when you press something on the remote?

Vic Trola,

Are the new updated models available for purchase and what is the purchase price (upgraded clock, etc)?
I looked on the website and that model Vanguard dac seems the same as before.

Thanks.

It's definitely doing something when the door is closed, but as I'm blind and can't see the display, I don't know if it's displaying any information or not.  It does appear to be reading the disc though.

Bill, try refreshing the page when you are on it -- you might be looking at a cached version of the old page.
